OT: Stimulus checks if you filed early and did direct deposit

My DH just got off the phone with the IRS to see where the heck our money is at since it was due on Friday. This is the answer: We e-filed early and chose direct deposit when we did our taxes with Turbo Tax. Since our refund was processed by an entity other than the IRS (translation RAL through Santa Barbara BAnk and trust), the IRS doesn't have our banking information. Therefore, we are getting a )(*&)(*&()*& paper check mailed on the 9th to be here by the 16th. His last 2 digits are 01. Hope this helps others in the same situation as us. Dang it..I NEEED that money. :p

I'm sorry your $ is delayed, but it's good to know it will be coming and be a bonus after the 9th. We had ours done by a local tax service ... we're always too afraid I'll screw up to do it ourselves.

I used Turbo Tax also.  I was wondering when it would hit so now I know to watch the mailbox.  Thanks.

So if we used Turbo Tax we'll automatically get a check instead of direct deposit?  Didn't know that! 

Ok, I've learned more. If you did Turbo Tax and opted to have the fees deducted from your refund, you get paper. If you paid the fees with credit card, you get auto deposit. According to someone who called Turbo Tax. DH called the IRS, so that's the word I'm taking.

RAL is a Rapid Anticipation Loan which is different than just direct deposit.  If you just had your refund Direct Deposited it doesn't matter if you used Turbo Tax or had someone do it for you. So you are ok with Turbo Tax as long as you didn't do a RAL.

Weird.  I work at a credt union and have seen several get their checks direct deposit that used Turbo Tax this past year.  hmmmm...  I used turbo tax and haven't gotten mine yet so I will watch both places.

If you go to irs.gov you can look to see when it will get here.  It is a little different from the Pay schedule.  It says something to the affect of "I've checked the schedule, now where is my stimulus check".  I did that, and it said the 16th.  It should have been the 2nd!  However, when I used the calculator before, it said I get $300.  The new page said my check for $600 will arrive around the 16th.  Good luck!
