I tried to do an all liquid diet today
I hated those protein drinks! If I never drink one again, it will be too soon! I had to lose 37 lbs pre-op and I lost 35 in 9 weeks, so when I went in for my weigh in they went ahead and set my surgery date based on my progress even though I still had 2 lbs to lose. So hang in there, you'll be there in no time. Then you'll be like me, trying to make it through the two weeks of liquids, UGH! This is my 10th day with no food and am about to lose my mind! But, I'm losing a LOT of weight, I'm averaging about two lbs a day. So I guess it's worth it! LOL
Girls I hate to tell you this, but you better learn to like protein. Lets face it you are gone to the trouble to have this surgery and lets face it, If you made the right choices to begin with you would have a weight problem,
Now if you don't want to keep your hair just keep saying I don't like protein, but you are going to find that you can't eat enough protein a day and stay healthy. I know that I have to have between 80 and 100 grams a day plus what I eat and take my BA Vit, I feel great reached goal in 9 months and lost very little hair I will drink protein the rest of my life and I love it,
This is just my 2 cents

I was told not to consume more than about 65 grams of protein daily. Anymore than that will actually make it harder to lose weight and your body simiply doesnt need it. As far as the protein shakes. I AGREE WITH YOU. The only two that I can handle are Slim-Fast high protien, and EAS Myoplex chocolate fudge. They have 42 grams of protein. So I can drink that during the day, have a peice of fish, or chicken for dinner, I am doing really good. I went today for my first B12 shot and weighted. 232. down 40 pounds from Feb 19 (when I had my first appointment with Dr Davidson). I feel so much better and have so much more evergy.
Good luck with that! Seriously, if you find a way to get ALL of your required protein in with food alone, I want that secret. I am 10weeks out. Dr. Keith told me all of my meals at this point should be 1/2 cup. Who's he kidding? I do good to finish a breakfast bar, or 1/4c. lol. I rely on protein bars as well as shakes to make my goal. It started at 81grams per day. They upped it to 116grams. Ya, it is SO hard. If it werent for shakes and bars, I wouldnt make it. I feel like I eat all day as it is. Do I like protein shakes? HELL NO. Do I want to live healthy and reach my weightloss goals, keep my hair, my organs and my muscles? HELL YEA. Therefore, I drink and eat things I may not particularly care for. When I do have real food, I make it something that I really enjoy. Fact is guys, once you have the surgery, you no longer live to eat. You eat to live. I don't mean to sound rude or harsh or anything. I am 26. I started this process at a very unhealthy weight of 335. I am currently at 260. I couldn't ask for a better turn out. I LOVE my life now, and am prepared to do what it takes to keep on living it. You just have to get creative. Pre-op, I used to love to make Chocolate Peanut Butter milk shakes. I still make them. I just change up the ingredients! I use FF ice cream SF chocolate syrup (about 1/2 teaspoon), 1tsp natural peanut butter, and choc protein powder. Its delicious! Just push through! Remember why you are doing this, and realize that IT is worth it, and most of all YOU are worth it. Follow your doctors orders TO THE LETTER. That's why they give them to us!! Good luck everyone!!!
I know what you mean about the taste! This is my little secret...I use Body Fortress from wal mart and add sugar free cocoa to it or i add davinici sugar free peppermint syrups to them. Then I put them in the freezer for a few to let them thicken up and have like a real milk shake. Since I am now 5 months post op I just jug them down....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
You ask if I couldn't get my protein for food NO I had RNY 5-15-07 and have been at goal for a while now, There is No way I could eat enough to get my protein in, and I have to much livin to do spending it trying to eat all the time, I love my shakes You just have to play with them till you find the one you like.
