I went to Al's Bicycle and rode a bike around their building.  Ok so it was only twice so it was no big whoop but it as kind of a familiar sensation yet still weird feeling!  I enjoyed it.  I loved my bike as a kid.  Maybe I'd love it now.  I really think I'm going to buy one.  My only problem?  I'm pre-op so I have big buns.  Those seats are not designed for big buns!  They are uncomfortable!  Why can't the put cushioned tractor seats on those bikes?    They would be so much more comfortable!  Does anyone know if they make a comfortable bicycle seat for a fat-bottomed girl?  Thanks!

Actually they do make something!!  Post your question about that on the VSG board because I remember a month or two ago someone was talking about how their special seat was so awesome and several others chimmed in that they had the same seat.  I just can't remember what it was called.  I can't wait to be able to ride a bike in my neighborhood with my son.  That would be so awesome.

It was Margo (faufins) on the VSG forum that recommended a particular bicycle seat. I don' t remember the name of it though. I'm thrilled with riding with our daughter on Deb's (HoodooWoman) bike. Deb's bike has a back support rest, too! It's great!
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

If you have a belly, the backrest is a big help-it gives you something to brace against.

As you lose weight, a women's specific  seat is nice.  Most bike shops have skinny people working and they don't stop and think about our bariatric needs.  I've only had one (The Bicycle Shop on South Western) where the manager was really into wanting to know, so we talked a long time about it.

Basically, the heavier you are, the lower your bike needs to be and the wider your seat.  As you lose weight, you'll want to change up your riding a bit-but by then you'll either be bored and move on to something else or you'll be hooked and a bike fiend like me.  Either way, it's all good.
