I'm not sure how much I have to go because I haven't weight in several days.  Last I checked I had 16 more to go unless they decide to count the 7 that I lost before I weighed in with them.  I think I am eating too few calories actually.  I lost so much more when I did weigh****chers and lost a bunch of weight.  I wonder if my body thinks it is starving.

Well girls, looks like the pre-op diet bites a little doesn't it !! Good thing I was sitting down when I found out I had to lose 60 lbs (yes 60!!!!) before surgery. My original choice of surgery was the RNY and being that I am 5'2" and 386 lbs, my BMI was 69 I believe, and Dr. B. wanted it at 60. So, the long journey began....I started out on a 1200 calorie plan that involved no supplements - that was ok, only thing is I only lost 10 lbs on that - so I told Kathy and Jessica I needed to change that. Jessica put me on the aggressive plan, with three shakes, one bar and one soup per day, and one meal consisting of 5 oz of protein and non starchy vegetables. Well, the shakes did not get too far with me (right Amy?), so after whining and complaing enough to Jessica, she changed the shakes to puddings. Much better this time, yet, I found the whole supplement thingy tiring and I kept struggling from wanting to eat other foods. I was on the pre-op diet for over five month, and thankfully they were happy with me losing 52 lbs. I know you guys are really anxious to get this surgery over and done with, so will it help if I tell you that the pre-op diet was a blessing in disguise for me? I would have never, ever been able to adjust to life post-op without having made those changes pre-op. My weight loss journey began the day of my first appointment at Weightwise, not on the day of my surgery, and I think that kind of thinking helped me a lot, given the amount of pre-op weight I had to lose.  I know you girls can do this, better yet, you know you can do this  Take it one day at a time and the weight will come off, and don't think of it as a diet.. -  Anna

Ladies, I can relate on most levels. I didn't have to lose a specific amount of weight before being scheduled for surgery, but I'm on the liquids only phase of the pre-op diet now (last 3 days). I'm telling you, the curtains are looking pretty tasty! ; ) One thing I'm really noticing is that the older I get, the harder it is to lose weight! My calorie intake has been very low this week and you'd think it would be easier to just shave the pounds off than actually lose them from dieting. I don' t think I'm in starvation mode, but my body evidently likes to hang onto the fat much more than I do! Because I haven't been good about getting all the protein meal replacements down, my calorie intake has been around 600 to 700 per day. It would be higher if I could get all the meal replacements and protein drinks down like a good girl....but I'm finding it very difficult. Today I upped the activity, so hopefully it won't look like I've just done a little better than maintain or lose a couple of pounds on the pre-op diet. Maybe I'm in a pre-op stall. ; ) It sure is frustrating! Hang in there girls. We'll get through this.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
