Misery loves company so I was wondering who all is losing their pre-op weight.  How much do you have to lose for the surgery?  How much have you lost?  What kind of diet are you on?  What surgery date are you shooting for? I'll go first.  I have to lose 34 lbs for the surgery and as of last Tuesday I had lost 16 of that.  I'm scared to weigh because it will discourage me if I am not losing it fast enough.  I'm going to try and hold out for Tuesday to weight again.  I'm on the weightwise aggressive diet plan which is supplements for morning, midmorning, mid afternoon, and evening with a light meal of 3 oz protien, veggies, and fruit for lunch and dinner.  I struggle to eat the supplements though cuz I think the taste bad.  I'm hoping for surgery on May 21st.

I'm on the liquids only phase now. Thank goodness it's full liquids!  I just finished the 7 days of the pre-op diet that did include 2 small meals of  2 - 4 oz. lean meat with up to 1/2 cup of steamed, healthy veggies along with protein meal replacements and protein drinks.. Now, protein meal replacements, protein shakes and full liquids only until Monday night at midnight .... then NPO. I'm struggling with the protein, too. I reminds me of having to take medicine as a child. ; (
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I am a patient of Dr. Walton and on the pre-op diet.  I tried to do the agressive diet but hate the supplements.  Then I saw Dr. Keller and he said that the whole point was just to get the weight off so then I went off and did my own thing.  But I am eating lean protein, veggies and fruit.  I spoke to Jessica at the nutrition meeting on Wednesday and told her I wasn't doing her diet.  We changed to this:  small protein in the am (1 egg or 1/2 c lf cottage cheese) plus fruit, 10AM piece of string cheese, lunch same as the agressive plan (lean protein and 2 1/2c servings veggies, protein bar at 3:00 (the mocha wafers from ww aren't bad, I can actually swallow them) and for dinner, repeat lunch.  I should have said that I had 29 to lose and have lost 17.  I am extremely anxious to get a surgery date and get on the losing sid of this project.  Just those dang 12 pounds are standing in my way!  I had hoped to have surgery in early May so I could vacation for Memorial Day.  I'm pretty sure now that's not going to happen.  So I am looking at May 28.  But can I really lose those 12 pounds that quick?  I don't know but I'm hoping.  I did do the walk at Mitch Park with the gals from ww this morning and we walked 2.8 miles so I'm happy about that.  Yes, I have gone back to the gym.  Much as I hate it, it doe make me feel better.

I have an appointment with Jessica next week and I am going to mention changing things up.  I think I could handle what you are doing much better or what Anna did when she was pre-op.  I bet if you stepped up the activity you could lose that 12 lbs.  I am so scared to weigh right now because I have 16 lbs to go.  My only hope is that they will take into consideration the 7 lbs I lost the week before I weighed in the first time.  I found an old weigh****cher card that shows my high weight so I'm crossing my fingers. Oh wow...it's 6:00, time for that 3 oz of lean meat feast!!  :)

Oh, and when I eat protein I'm eating more than 3 ounces.  Hello?  I weigh 267!  I'm a big girl!  I gotta have it!  (I eat 4 or 5 ozs)  Maybe we should go on the all veggie diet!  LOL!  Didn't it just floor you when you went in for weight loss surgery and found out you had to lose weight first?  Dr. W said, "No problem!  That's easy!  We'll get the off of you!"  I told him if it was easy I wouldn't be in his office.  Where do you live?

Yeah, I about died when they told me I had to lose that much.  Kind of ironic really.  I live in Yukon.  I'm thinking about going to Catherine's tomorrow after church for their sale and pick up something in a couple of sizes smaller just to help me motivate myself.  I've never done that before but I hear others saying it  helps.  I just checked my calories on mydailyplate.com and I ate 1,200 calories today.   If I get really hungry before bed I will have a 15 cal SF popsicle.

And what pre-op diet did Anna do?

Oh yeah!  Those 15 calorie sf pops really fill a gal up!  Ha! I'm been tracking on myfooddiary.com and I'm right at 1200 each day too.  But it's $9 a month.  I think the others are free. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes.  I have an appointment on 4/30 and I'm hoping to get a surgery date.  Wonder how much I could lose on a liquid diet for a week or so?  I've seriously considered that.

mydailyplate.com is free.  I also have an appt this week with Jessica and the PA.  Great minds think alike.  I picked up some protien shakes today and decided I was going to do almost all liquid for the next few days.  I am going to have a shake for breakfast, lunch, and then the lite meal (3 oz meat, veggie, fruit) for dinner.  My regular doctor prescribed me some diet pills at the first of the year and I have only used 2 of those.  I am going to take one tomorrow to help me do this.  Right or wrong, I have got to get through this.  I am afraid I will go pig out if I don't lose enough this week.

When is your appointment? How much more do you have to lose? I have 10 more to go and my appointment is 4/30 at 8:30AM.  I have 4 appointments all back to back.  It will be the first time I meet the nurse practitioner, Kathy.   I'm struggling a little this afternoon with wanting to eat even though I'm not hungry.  That is the pits!  I know I will have this struggle after surgery too so I better figure it out.  I should get up and do my laundry and get my mind on something else.
