Good Morning, Some of you may remember my postings about my friend Karen who has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Brain Cancer.  Her son is in the military and was granted a one week leave to come home.  The problem is that the week is up.  Due to the gravity of his mother's condition, he called his CO and requested an extension, however, it was denied.  Needless to say, with Karen being so ill saying good bye will be very traumatic. I and lots of other friends are trying to find a way to get assistance with having his leave extended.  We are working with our local Congressman's office but so far, nothing is happening.  The wheels in government can move painfully slow sometimes. As some of you also may know, I am a huge Toby Keith fan.  It's a long shot but I thought that he might have some influence with the military powers that be because of his wonderful support for our servicemen and women and may even be willing to help.  Having no idea how to contact him  I sent an email to his Fan Club President, Kay.  So far, I haven't heard anything back.   If any of you have a better way to try and contact her (or Toby himself) please let me know.  Also, any other ideas as to what could be done to help would so very much appreciated. Please continue your prayer support for Karen and her Family.  And contact me asap if you have any ideas at all as to what can be done. Thank you all so much my dear friends. Blessings & Hugs to All Pam  PS I do have some good news too.  My dear hubby, Steve, will be placed on the Liver Transplant Registry.  It is now our only hope.  We are thankful and pray for a miracle.

I will definitely keep all this in prayer! I live about 5 miles from Toby Keith (as the crow flies), but I don't think there's any chance I could contact him privately. If I, or my husband, can think of anything we'll let you know. I will definitely be praying for a transplant to come in a timely manner for your dear husband.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Shelly, You're the best!  I know that you are having a case of the jitters right now being so close to your surgery but don't worry - All Will Be Well! Keeping you in my prayers! Huggs, Pam PS How about going over to Toby's to borrow a cup of sugar?    Think that would work?  LOL

A couple of years ago, they had problems with people trying to get on his property/ranch. Now it's closely watched and I don't think my sugar need would fly with them. Dog gone it! I don't even know anybody that has a close contact with him. He's very active around town with his children's school and activities, OU football, etc. I just don't have any friends in common. I'm sorry! However, if I run into him at the grocery story, you can bet I'll bend his ear! ; )
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I would start contacting T.V. stations and getting this on the news. Go to the newspapers, etc.

Hello, I do really like the idea of contacting TV stations and newspapers and getting the word out and will pass it along to Karen as soon as I'm finished posting here.  No one wants to cast our countries military officers in a bad light, but, this is a highly unusual situation and so very sad.  I wonder if maybe his CO didn't realize just how grave things are here with Karen.  I will definately pass along your suggestions. Thank you so much.  All the best to you and your loved ones. Huggs, Pam

Pam, I'm so sorry to hear about Karen.  I will continue to remember her and her family in my prayers.  I was also going to suggest the Red Cross. I will also remember your husband and his liver transplant coming asap.  I have a friend that had a liver transplant about three years ago and she is doing great.  She was to meet the donar family a couple of weeks ago for the first time.  What an amazing gift she received from a family that was so giving of their son's organs.  My DH and I are organ donars and feel that everyone should seriously consider being an organ donar.  It is the most precious gift you can give someone else in order for that person to continue living.  Yes, it is a sad time for the family who lost someone but what better way to memorialize that person than giving an organ(s) to someone else who truly needs them at this time.   Keep us updated on both of them.  Take care of yourself so you can take care of them.  Hugs....
