Amy, I think you can do it! Just try to exercise 30 minutes each day and tough out the diet. I don't know what your diet is like, but I'm on my 10 day pre-op diet ... so I understand. I'm using meal replacements and protein shakes. The New Directions meal replacements aren't half bad, as a matter of fact, I have had had some that are good! I'm using Nectar Roadside Lemonade as my protein shake .... I add just a tad of Crystal Lite and it's pretty good, too. I'm allowed some food at lunch and dinner .... 2 - 4 ozs. of lean meat and 1/2 cup of healthy steamed veggies or 1 c. raw veggies. Also, SF popsicles are allowed.
I'm trying to stay busy and not think of food, but rather concentrating on other things and getting through surgery as easily as possible with a liver as small as possible. Pre-op dieting can shrink the liver as much as 30% and make it much easier for the surgeon to get behind it to get to your stomach .... and MUCH easier on you to lessen any risk of liver damage during surgery.
I'll keep you in my prayers and pray that your diet becomes easier and that you are very successful! You can do it! Snowball that diet and be gazelle intense! : )
- Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose. Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email. I'll answer it as soon as possible.
