I am 5 days post-op. I just started pureed foods and protein drinks today. The problem is the protein drinks I liked pre-op now make me gag, I can't stand the smell. Any ideas about how to get in protein while Im waiting to be allowed to eat "real foods"??

Do you have any unflavored protein that you could add to something you can drink or eat? I've heard that several of the unflavored proteins really are tasteless and not noticed in a drink of crystal lite or something similar. Good Luck!

I forgot to add this earlier, but one thing that I've done is drink the protein shakes from a sport bottle with a very small opening like THIS. It's not made for a straw (and my surgeon doesn't want straws used) but the opening is just big enough for your mouth, and not big enough to get the blast of protein odor in your face like a glass. Also, it comes with the little whisk ball in it so that it mixes your drink really well. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hey Shelly, I noticed your surgery is coming up really fast.  I'll bet your excited!  Be sure to let us know how you are doing.  And if you need any help with getting the word out, just let me know.  I would be happy to do whatever I can from up here in Michigan. Huggs, Pam

Hi Holly, It isn't unusual for our taste preferences to change post op.  I use the Designer Whey Chocolate Protein Powder everyday for my morning shake.  It isn't too bad.  But, if you don't like that one, you might be able to get some samples from your surgeons office to try.  Good luck!  Getting in that protein is sooooo important!
