What do I do from here?

On April 9th, I completed all my required doctor visits.  However, I left the center without the knowledge of what to do next.  I have also completed all the required test and blood work.  Now I don't know what happens from here.  I'm doing my diet but I have no idea what is next.  Will they call me to go further or do I need to contact them?  I have left 2 messages with the patient advocate but no return call as of yet.  I just don't want my long intensive blood work to be for nothing....  Could someone please let me know what to do next.  Thanks

Robin: If you didn't get an appointment to return, or a surgical date, be patient.  If you know which patient advocate is assigned to you, you could e-mail them to follow up.  Your tests are in safe hands and you will be taken care of shortly.  If you have left messages, give them a couple days to return the calls.  With the amount of traffic there might be a little lag time to catch up.   Minimally keep working on your diet, attend support group, start or continue your exercise routine like things are going to be done next week!  If you are an insurance patient, your tests and records will be reviewed several times, the appropriate paperwork will be completed and all will be forwarded to your insurance company.  Then your advocate and the insurance girls get to harass the insurance company until they get an answer for you. If you do not hear from anyone over the course of the next few days or you do not have the appropriate e-mail address, email me and I will see what I can do.  I have Brandy's email in my computer.  I know she is really really busy since it took her a few days to get my labs faxed over to me as well.  She is great though and I knew she would get back with me.   Hang in there, join us at support group and know that we are here for you!!!

I tried emailing Stephanie, my patient advocate, but she never replied.  I am planning to call next week to find out where I am at in the process as well.  I would call them Monday.  I think the people that answer the phone can see on the computer if you have completed everything that is required.  If you have, then I bet you just need to wait for them to view the results of your lab.  I would keep calling back every couple of days to see where they are at.  We are paying them $10K so I'm sure they don't mind answering our questions.

I will double check with my family doctor and make sure they has sent all my results.  I will call again tomorrow, as well...  Amy, are you going to be there this thursday?  I'm going to bring my husband and mother so they can get important info too.

Yep, I plan to be there.  The only reason I wouldn't be able to go is if my husband ends up having to take clients to dinner that night but he is pretty sure they will be leaving town during the day on Thursday.  He wants to come too but we don't have anyone to watch our 8 year old that night.  I will try and get a sitter for the next meeting so he can come. I will look for you!  Oh, and Dr. Keller said he was "passing me" so yay!  One hurdle down.

I can tell you that after my initial appointment, I had to get set up to see the nutritionist, the exercise phsyiologist and Dr. Keller.  It sounds like you have already done all that too.  I have my surgery date, April 23rd and like you, I am waiting not entirely sure what to do next.  I know that I have to have a pre-op appointment so I have called Stephanie (my patient advocate) a few times and emailed her 4 times and I still don't have a date for my pre-op.  I know they are busy, but my plan is to just stay on them.  On a promising note, on one of the calls, she did tell me that I still have my surgery date.  I sincerely hope that doesn't change since I've already taken off of work.  So, I would keep calling and trying.  Good luck and please wish me the same.  I know it's getting pretty frustrating.   Robyn

I learned the hard way, DONT WAIT ON THEM......  THey are so super busy that as good as there intentions are on calling us sometimes they dont get to us.  After waiting for 3 months I finally called and they had no clue they still hadnt submitted me to insurance and then 30 days later I have the approval. So remember its your money they are taking you are paying them well and you need to know whats what. Dont ever feel bad for checking in.   Hope that helps some. Hugs Cindy

I think that business is just so good at WeightWise and they have gotten so busy that they don't have time to handle patients like maybe they once did.  I agree that it takes a long time for them to get back with you if you get a response.  (via email anyway)  I'm certain it's just that the staff is overworked.  But I will say that I knew what my next step was every time I have left there.   I think they need to hire more people!  That being said, I'm very confident I've picked the right folks to take care of me.  You must call first thing in the morning and find out what you need to do next.  Maybe they're waiting for you?  Good luck!
