Welcome!  This is a wonderful supportive board.  I am from Michigan but visit here often because the folks here are beginning to feel like dear friends, and I am sure soon you will feel the same. Again, welcome and don't be a stanger!  Huggs From Pam in Michigan

Thanks for welcoming me to the board.   For those of you who have had Malabsorptive Procedures, do you find the vitamin requirements difficult to meet?  I think I would worry about malnutrition and other deficiencies. Dr. Gorospe's patients, where there any up front fees I should budget for? My avatar's name is Zoe.  She is a 6 month old Maine Coon Mix.  I love that picture of her.

Dr.Gorospe and Dr Kirk require you to pay the surgeons fees before they start scheduling you for the necessary appointments and give you your date.  I was self pay so I dont know if these fees are covered by insurance or not.  I will try to check my paperwork tomorrow and let you know.

Congrats and welcome!  When I was trying to decide on lap band or RNY I  asked a lot of questions on the boards.  One was the one about the loose skin. I kind of got a little slap on the wrist for it by some...odd.  But it was one of the pros/cons items I was letting effect my decision...so I totally understand the question. You will hear that loose skin is totally dependent on your genetics, your health, you skin, how much you lose...etc... and cannot be known in advance.  I based my decision more on what my surgeon said than anything because he's the bariatric expert. I don't regret the RNY at all and I really do feel I made the right choice for me.  My PCP's PA is a friend of mine and she totally supported me in my decision...she was even excited for me! That was also VERY helpful!!!  I take my vitamins faithfully to ward off any issues but haven't been tested yet.  I think we  do that at 6 months and I am very curious how that will turn out. I know that if I am low in anything it will be  iron. I take 29mg or mcg....the passion fruit bariatric advantage ones but I have always been borderline anemic my entire life!  I think no matter what surgery you chose the key is that you do what your surgeon recommends.   Good luck with everything and have fun researching. It's quite an adventure!!!
