Newbie Question
Hello everyone! This is my first post and I hope I get the hang of this site...just one question.
What do you do when you go on the 10 day diet before surgery? Do you immediatly quit eating food and only have liquids or do you progress to liquids? I know I have a few months before surgery but I would like to know.
Thanks!
Welcome Aunt Jenn! I just talked with Abby, one of the nutritionists at OWLO yesterday. I haven't had the pre-op orientation class yet (that's next week), but I did have my first nutrition visit and got a large booklet/handout for my OWLO notebook. I did ask about the 10 day pre-op diet and she said only the last 3 days before surgery are liquids only. The 7 days before do have real food, but I don't know the details of that part of the diet until next week. BTW, Abby was adorable and very nice and informative. She gave me her card and phone number to call any time with questions. She'll also be teaching my pre-op class on the 17th. The pre-op orientation is an entire day and the diet teaching is just a portion of it. I'm looking forward to the class! Feel free to ask any more questions that any of us might be able to help with and I hope you're having a great week!

THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE IN THE PRESENCE OF FEAR.
My pre-op diet was days, and to be honest with you I cheated. twice. I know I know. But still my surgery was successful. For me I had my "Last Dinner" the it was liquids. I went back and forth on different high protien, low cal drinks. I recommend slim fast low cal chocolate. not to bad. I was liked the Myoplex high protein, however it rasied my blood sugar too much. But if thats not an issue. Your doc and nut will talk to you about how to process with any pre-op diet.
Just know that no matter how many people tell you this, "IT REALLY IS THE HARDEST PART"
Best of luck to ya
