Anyone Else

Did anyone cheat on their pre-op diet.  I did this weekend.  My family and I went the NASCAR race in Dallas.  Everyone was eating in front of me.  So I ate Friday and Saturday night.  I have been back on the straight and narrow since then, but I was curious as to if anyone else has.

I sure did because I was on my pre-op diet for six months.

Hi!  Just wanted to say try hard not to cheat.  The pre  op diet is really important to shrink your liver and get your organs ready for the surgery.    You want to be as ready as you can going in.  I know it is really hard, but if you get tempted, remind yourself all the reasons you are doing this in the first place.    Best of luck to you!!!

Nope, My pre-op liquid diet was only 4 days so it was easy to do. Some people have a 2 week pre-op diet which would be very hard. Good luck...  You can do it.

My liquid diet was 10 days , and it was hard not to cheat but i didnt because as was said i was trying to shrink my liver and be in the best possible shape for surgery ,, so hang in there , just remember why we have to do it .

Mine was 4 days as well and on the afternoon of the first day I had some chicken just cause I wasnt thinking, not cause i was actually cheating.  Then, mid-meal my brain kicked in and I was like oops today is day one and i quit eating.  I was a perfect trooper the next 3 days though and Dr Goropse told my family I was a "perfect speciment" and that there was no problem at all.  I was greatly thankful to have them hear that instead of "sorry we coulnt get around his liver and had to split his chest open".  The pre-op diet is a pain in the ass but it sure beats the alternative.  Keep your goal in sight and if you need anyone to b*tch at, we are here to listen. Only 3 1/2 more days of liquids for me.......I can see the finish line....Woot Woot

I stuck  to the pre-op for the reasons stated above, I did not want the doctor to have to open me up.  I'm glad I did because my surgery went perfect.  The liquid diet is hard but it is worth it to have the quick recovery. I was up and walking that evening and back to work 10 days later.

Keep it up Okie! I followed the post-op diet to a tee and I am glad I did.  I lost 40 lbs the first 2 weeks, but I think the best part of sticking to the plan is how your pouch heals.  I have been on solids for a little over a week now and I have not had any problem with things I have tried.  I have tried most of the meat sources like chicken, turkey, ham, fish and just this weekend beef.

Bless your heart. I'll be in your shoes shortly. Mine is 10 days long, but I don't know all the details yet.....but I have a hunch it's gonna be liquids for the 10 days prior to surgery. I'm going to do my best not to cheat because I sure don't want any complications and I do want it done laprascopically ... not open. However, I may be very pitiful and grumpy by the time surgery arrives.   ; )

I want to add that I think you're donig great and I'll be praying for you to have an easy next few days as far as diet temptation goes, that you can stick to the program your Dr. has given you, that you have a smooth and successful surgery and that you have the road the health that is smooth and what you want! ; )
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
