I picked up a big sack of free protein samples from Dr. Nelson's office and have slowly been working through the bag doing taste testing. Much to my surprise, I've found two that are very good! Matrix 5.0 by Snytrax is great! I really like the *Cookies N Cream* flavor. It doesn't have that protein drink taste at all and it reminds me of hot chocolate .... only a bit lighter in texture and color. I'm thinking this one will be my favorite, so far. A close 2nd currently, is the Nectar by Syntrax. These are fruit flavored and more like a juice/gatorade type drink! Nectar comes in great flavors!! I've only tried the Strawberry Kiwi so far, but it's right up there with the Matrix 5.0 Cookies N Cream. They just don't have that protein taste or after taste at all. There is a very slight protein odor, but it can be eliminated completely by drinking from a sports bottle with a lid. I haven't tried the Cytosport Protein Pure Performance drink that Dan recommended, but it's on my shopping list! : )

I think I have a sample of the cookies and cream that you are talking about but I haven't tried it yet...  I have tried quite a few of the Nectar fruit flavors and I don't really like them. I think it is the smell that bothers me most.  To me, it smells like dirty baby diapers!

Oh, that's hilarious!!! You made me laugh outloud!!! I find it's much better when you drink from a sports bottle and there's no smell. ; ) I'm also going to make some into SF Jell-O soon and see how it goes in that. I'm trying to get it all figured out before surgery. Although, I know many people report their tastes change post-op....but I can't imagine I'd ever like some of them that I've tasted!!! ; )  Try the Matrix 5.0 Cookies N Cream and let me know what you think. I've read that some add some Swiss Miss SF Hot Chocolate mix to theirs for more of a hot chocolate type of drink....but don't get it boiling hot or it will clump. ; )
