I have the Respironics RemStar Pro M Series machine with the ResMed Ultra Mirage full face mask.  My mask covers both my nose and my mouth. My humidifier goes from 0 to 5.  They told me to keep it on 2, but I knew within the first night that I needed it higher.  So, I kept it on 3 for a long time and now I've bumped it up to 4 with the dry winter air... I have a question now...  What kind of water do you use in your machine?  I was pretty sure that they used tap water when I had my test done.  But, the lady that set me up with my machine told me to use distilled water.  I have used bottled water (Ozarka) in it when I traveled to my sisters... I don't want to mess anything up, but I hate having a jug of distilled water too.  Especially if I'm going somewhere.

Hi Kat, Until I lost over 100 lbs. I too had to use a CPAP.  Yep - they can be a real pain and take a lot of getting used to.  But, the issues you describe shouldn't be happening.  Can you call the dr. who prescribed it or maybe the company where you got it and report these problems.  For you to be able to use it effectively you must be comfortable.   Sometimes, it may take some adjustments to get everything going correctly. And don't forget - one day you probably won't even have to have one at all.  Believe me, thats the best!   Pam

The horror of a cpap machine! I used what looked like a scuba gear mask. It was easier for me since I dont like anything on my face and I am a side sleeper. After losing 86 pounds before surgery I had to be readjusted and since losing 167 after surgery I was told I didnt need it any more. Beleive me if you dont have your cpap when you go to the hospital some surgeons will not operate.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
