How long for your recovery from VSG?

For those of you that had VSG, how long until you felt like you could've have gone on vacation over the weekend?  I mean flying somewhere.  I had a lap gallbladder removal last August and that was a breeze.  I'm hoping the VSG won't be much worse than that.  What do you think? Kim

Hi Kim - I had VSG 6 weeks ago with Dr. Broussard. My recovery was exceptionally quick. I was back to work in one week, resumed my regular exercise (walking) the same day I got home from the hospital, and three weeks later I started a new work-out routie by joining Tan and Tone America. Yesterday I added a 15 minute work-out on the elliptical machine. I exercise at least 5 days per week. I had no pain after surgery, only some soreness that went away in one week's time. I have been feeling great since the beginning, and I feel well enough to go on vacation, and do all the normal things I was doing before, actually I can do them better because I am much lighter.  I know everyone is different when it comes to recovery, but if you recovered quickly from the gallblader removal, this should not be much different. Best of luck to you, and please let me know if I can answer any questions. Anna

Sorry that I responded to your other post before I got this one!  Thank you very much!  I think I'll recover pretty quickly.  A happy, positive attitude helps, I think!  I asked in the other email why you picked VSP so maybe you could answer there.  I'm 99% sure that is the procedure I'm going to do because I don't like the idea of being completely rewired.  I just don't want to ever regain the weight! Thanks again!  Kim
