Hello Dear Freinds in Oklahoma, I have to get up for school in 4 hrs. and can't get to sleep. I have lots going on in my life and have always had a little trouble time to time with not being to get to sleep.  But since my WLS in 2005, it seems I have had more than usual problems with insomnia. Anyone else out there had experience with this and if so what can I do to help myself with this?   Getting a little punchy here in Grand Rapids, MI. Huggs, Pam

Some people on the main board discuss it, but I have the opposite problem. If I can sleep in it's 9:30 before i wake up. During the week, I get up at 6..and am sleepy early at night..

Try eating a slice of turkey right before bed.  The tryptophan is a natural seditive.

I haven't had surgery yet, but frequently have nights when it's difficult to sleep. I generally take 1/2 of a 25 mg. Benadryl. It helps me sleep and it's just an antihistamine....so it helps with my allergies, too. It's not addictive either! Otherwise on nights when I can't sleep, I end up watching too much TV and snacking all night long! Good Luck!    Shelly

Melatonin works for me.  You can buy it where you buy vitamins.  I think it is a 3 mg tablet, but I could be mistaken about that...
