I don't have a set date for my surgery yet, but I'm planning on getting the GSV, and my grandparents are taking the whole family on a cruise to Hawaii at the end of May, and I was just wondering, how long is the recovery for GSV? I don't want to wait until after the cruise, but I don't want to be in pain either, I would love ya'lls feedback

I'd just suggest that you contact your surgeon and let him tell you when you'll be able to travel. I wish you the very best for a successful surgery and quick recovery.    Shelly

I don't know about the sleeve, but for my RNY I had to wait about a month before  I traveled very far away. I'd ask the doc for specifics for yours.

I would be very careful traveling to Hawaii that close to your surgery. After surgery you run the risk of blood clots. If you are sitting in a plane for a long time you are doubling your chances of getting a blood clot. I am going to Hawaii in Dec and my surgery is in April so I know your want to be started on your weight loss before you go but it might not be worth the risk. The surgeon would give you the best answer! And good luck!

I was told to wait and travel 6 weeks after surgery. And to take alot of beaks to stop and walk because of blood clots. My friend is having the sleeve done and she was told she could not travel for 6 weeks after surgery...I would ask the surgeon for his opinion....believe me you do not want to be away from your surgeon and have complications.
