pre-surgery review of the Edmond Foundation Bariatric Hospital
This is my review of the Foundation Bariatric Hospital in Edmond. My surgery is currently scheduled for April 14, it was postponed from March 24 due to my Diabetes still being out of control. I have been very impressed with the hospital and staff to this point. My brother had gastric bypass in the early 1990's and he did not recieve any counseling prior to the surger nor after. As a matter of fact...he told me 3 days after his surgery that he figured out how he could eat everything on his plate if he ate really slow over the period of 20 minutes. The serving sizes had not been reduced post surgery. He had frequent periods of vomiting from eating too quickly and the wrong foods. I am thankful to the FBH system that they instruct in pre-op eating & care; and, in post-op eating and care. I have been overweight my entire life and feel that the door was opened when I saw Dr. Walton on an interview show talking about the obesity epidemic. My original "desire' was for the lap-band but after attending the REQUIRED seminar, I have chosen the gastric sleeve as the surgery for me. Thank you for your time. Jeanne
jeanne: welcome to the WeightWise patient group!!! there are a bunch of us who come to this forum often!!
i am so glad that you have found WW and Drs Walton & Broussard. You will find that the program is very well rounded and truly focused on the multi-disciplinary approach. have you already attended your support group? if you are scheduled, i would think you are past that. the support group schedule is online at www.weightwise.com.
what surgery are you scheduled for? i would think if you have diabetes you will be rny but i am not sure if vsg corrects diabetes. i was pre-diabetic so Walton did RNY on me 20 months ago. i am 175 lbs less now - 1/2 of my original size!
let us know what we can do to help you! we are always around!! Good Luck on your surgery!!

THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE IN THE PRESENCE OF FEAR.
Welcome to our family on the 'net. You couldn't be in better hands for surgeons than either of these 2 docs. Dr. B. scrubbed in to assist Dr. Walton with mine. Wonderful facility and staff. They're the best, and I don't say that because of Crickett, though she's a great one, too as she had the pleasure of packing my incisions for awhile.
