New w/ A Few Questions...
Hey everyone, I'm new to the board, and I'm interested in a few things. I'm thinking about getting the Gastric Sleeve, and my doctor is Dr. Walton at Weight Wise in Edmond. Is there anyone that has had the surgery from Dr. Walton and can talk with me about after effects and side effects? Also, I'm on the pre-op diet, and I need some new recipes for chicken, so if anyone can help me there, that would be great. Basically I'm here to learn all I can from former patients about the surgery and stuff, so hope you guys can help.
Hi and welcome! I can't help you much with any personal experience yet, but I've frequently visited the VSG FAQ Forums for information and recipes, too! I hope this is helpful. Shelly
Welcome! I am a RNY patient of Dr. Walton's. There are several VSG patients here from WeightWise that will be able to address their effects of VSG. I am always available as well, I am just not as well versed on VSG. You are in great hands with Dr. Walton & Broussard. They are my lifesavers!! If you can, be sure to get up to a support group as well. The information is on the website www.weightwise.com.
Welcome to your journey!

Hi Michelle, and welcome! I had the Gastric Sleeve five weeks ago; Dr. Broussard, also from Weighwise is my surgeon and everything went exceptionally well. I know everyone is different, but my recovery was quick and I had zero problems. With the exception of having a much smaller stomach, I feel completely normal; I have had no side effects, I can eat regular foods (my diet is made up of protein and vegetables). I have never had any nausea, I have never gotten sick. As of last week-end, I lost about 80 lbs, however, 52 of those were lost on the pre-op diet. I feel great, I am rarely hungry, although that will probably change a little down the road; overall I am very happy that I chose the sleeve; my main problem with food was portions, I was not a junk food eater, nor do care about sweets, so this procedure was just perfect for me because it gives me what I need which is the restriction on how much food I can eat. Please fell free to ask any questions, I will be very happy to help.
Sorry I can't help with the recipe part, my husband is the cook! I was just doing a very good job at eating his food!
Best of luck, Anna
Hello and welcome! Dr. Walton gave me my new birthday too! One of my nurses in pre-op had the VSG done like 8 days before my surgery. She's very helpful. Everyone on the staff is very knowledgeable and can help answer any questions. The patients I've talked to in the waiting room are very happy with their sleeve.
I'm excited for you!
I'm new to the board too and I'm also a patient of Dr. Walton's. I am doing all of the pre-op stuff right now. I had the sleep study last night. I chose Dr. Walton because he comes very highly recommended and he had devoted his career to helping obese folks. His office is great. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. After my sleep study, I had lab work, EKG and upper GI. As they passed me from one to the other, each one was nicer than the last. Needless to say, I feel pretty comfortable there. I went to one of the support groups and I highly recommend it. It was informative and enjoyable. Now all I have to do is decide if I want VSG or RNY! Ha!
