I'm getting SO EXCITED!!!

I talked with my surgeon's office yesterday and I have an appt. with Dr. Nelson next Monday ... and they told me I will get my VSG surgery date!!!  Of course, I still have more testing to complete, so the surgery is likely 4 or 5 weeks away .... but, I'm so excited to start this new chapter of getting healthier!  I'm having a VSG since I have an autoimmune disease that requires me to take ongoing NSAIDs and frequent corticosteroids, which excludes me from any of the other WLSs. However, I would have chosen VSG for myself, even without other issues, so it works out really well. I'm looking forward to the hospital orientation classes and seeing the new, dedicated bariatric unit at the hospital. My rheumatologist and PCP will also be nearby, just in case. I'm really looking forward to getting together and meeting others! I hope everyone is having a wonderful and healthy week!    Shelly

That's great. I'm doing happy happy joy joy dance for you! I've talked to people who've had VSG and they've been really pleased with it.

Thank you, Shelly! After a few plateaus, I just started weighing myself monthly so bigger numbers show up.

That's wonderful news. The time will fly by quickly. I'm assuming that Dr's Nelson and Keith are doing sleeves now?

Thanks, Crickett!  I'm not sure about Dr. Keith, but Dr. Nelson is and she will be doing mine soon. ; ) I'll find out more at my office visit with Dr. Nelson on Monday. I've been very positively impressed with both of them and since I'm a bit more of a complicated patient, it's going to be good to have my PCP and rheumatologist at hand if needed. My rheumatologist approved me for this surgery today....since I will still be able to take my meds and not have the possible autoimmune problems that can happen with the other types of WLS. They've just recently completed remodeling a portion of the 3rd floor of Norman Regional to be a dedicated bariatric surgery unit and I'll report back to everyone on it when we get to tour the facility soon. I think the time will go by pretty quickly since I have so many tests and things to do between now and then. It will just be the liquid diet part pre-op that will seem like forever! ; )     Shelly
