Dear God I knew the liquid diet was going to be hard but this is ridiculous.  Massive headache, cant sleep, the expected hunger pains, crankiness, you name it.  I got MAYBE 2 hours of solid sleep last night thanks to my mask constantly farting on my face and me not being able to get it adjusted right.  I know I am ranting and raving but i needed to get it out.  I am taking EVERYTHING out of my fridge today and either giving it to my mom or my friends so they can take it home and eat it and get it out of my sight.  I know the end results are so going to be worth it, but I am reaaaaallllyy dragging today.

Come on Dan!!! Go Dan, go!!! You can do it champ. 16 down and going strong. Soon you will be able to have food again and your life will never be the same. Won't it be great to eat because you HAVE to, and not because you are enslaved to it? Just think about getting through today, and if that is too much, think about getting through this hour or the next 10min. Think of yourself as that skinny guy a few months down the road. Won't it be great to be in that size 38 jeans (is that even a good size for guys?:)) or to walk or even run somewhere without getting out of breath? Drink, drink, drin****il you feel like even your eyeballs are floating. Maybe that will help with the hunger pangs. Do whatever you must to distract yourself. Go outside, sit in front of the computer looking up jokes(at least maybe you can find a good laugh or one to tell us next meeting). Keep plugging away buddy. This too shall pass.  ~Joni~   bbb ,kjkkkkkkkkkkkk   That last part was from the little man. He's "helping" mom. lol

Dan,   I know that it is difficult but It's only a short period of time to change your life forever. Keep up the good work and yeah, get rid of everything on your fridge. You can Do it!!  Drink, drink and drink more ;-)         Remember, that the importance of the liquid diet is that your liver shrink, so it can be retrieved and Dr G can access your stomach easier. Otherwise, he will need to cut you open and you don't want that. THat was my main motivation, I want to recovery as faster as possible  Good Luck!! Lis

Jell-O, Popsicles, water, Crystal Light..broth..(not sure what you can have). I was on a diet from my nut through the nutrition store that was Medi-Fast stuff for 3 months. I was fine until right before surgery and was really getting hungry. I can sympathize. Constantly drinking and I do mean all the time might help trick your stomach into thinking you're full. If not, at least the jell-o and popsicles should help as long as they're not red or blue/purple right before surgery. You can do this. I have complete confidence in you as everyone else here does. We're cheering you on, but I know it's hard when you really want to have something to eat.

Can you go outside, walk or do any other activity you enjoy? That might divert your tummy's hunger..chewing gum..is that allowed??

Hang in there buddy!  The headache should subside later today and the rest will resolve.  SIP SIP SIP - gulp right now if you have to.  Keep your tummy full of water!!!  If you have to, keep your hands busy busy busy!!  Clean, laundry, yard work, whatever it takes to keep your mind off food.   YOU CAN DO THIS!!  I know you can!!  If you really get down, you have my cell number.  Call me.  We'll get you through this!  It is harder before than after.  We all know that but just THINK about the end result!  You are going to be a LEAN, MEAN fighting machine!!! If you can't rant and rave to your friends that have been through it, who can you!!   We love ya man!!  R

That sounds so familiar... the hunger, crankiness, etc.. and I only had to do one day of liquids pre-op! I remember going to bed early hoping to go to sleep and not think about the hunger, but no such luck. So I can sympathize on how you feel right now. But this too shall pass, and before you know it, it will be a memory. YOU CAN DO IT!!  Good idea about the getting rid of the food in the fridge...I couldn't do that...my husband and daughter still had to eat, so that would have been insensitive of me (I wanted to though ). I went in to surgery with my stomach growling, and came of it with 2/3 of it gone (I had the sleeve), so that was cool, and the hunger was gone!  And it has been gone since.... Just hang in there..For me hot drinks, such as broth, tea, helped more than cold drinks. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. Anna

Hey Dan, Hang in there...  it's hard now but it's worth it later.  Eat popcicles all day if you have too.  Drink, drink and drink even more.  I really liked eating jello because it made me feel like I was eating something. You can do it! Carrie

Dan, I'd rather see you complain a bit than ask for suggestions on what you could possibly cheat with...LOL.  It's OK to say this is hard, because it is.  You are acknowledging that and moving on-so I support you in your crankiness-I'm proud of your crankiness.  It's a positive good sign!  We are here for you-rave on, brother, rave on!

I sympathize with you---the liquid diet is really tough.  I had to go thru it twice!!!  I got to the hospital and found out my surgery had to be delayed.  Hang in there and keep your eye on the prize!  Good luck with your surgery!
