If you had it to do over again.......
I had my filter put in last Thursday. You are right, a good way to spend the rest of the day is to relax. The nurse told me not to sign any important documents....I laughed. Later on that night, I made my son stay up to finish his homework. When it was an hour past his bed time, he still wasn't finished. When I questioned him, he said, "But mom, it's not due until the monday after spring break. I don't have school tomorrow." I could not believe myself!!! I felt like I had lost my mind. My wonderful son was doing what he was told to do, even though he probably thought I was crazy!!!
Good luck with your filter and surgery!!!
I spent the day before my surgery at a 4th of July picnic. I couldn't eat anything!!! It was a pain!! But I was with friends and they made sure I had liquids to keep me going! I don't know if I would have changed a thing - good friends, good feelings.

THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE IN THE PRESENCE OF FEAR.
I can't say that I would have done anything different. Heck, all you can have is clear liquids , there's no fun in that. I spent my day inside due to the severe ice storm that we had in December. My surgery was cancelled, but I got to have it the next day. My last real meal was home made Fritoe Chili Pie. It was the perfect weather for it.
I wouldn't do a thing differently.
A friend of mine took side view and front view polaroids ( first round clothed, second round...um...nekkid), so I could bust them out and compare (as I'm sure you can imagine, 2 of those pictures are enclosed in 5 sealed envelopes and hidden). When I'd have doubts or feel unsuccessful, I'd look at the pictures and realize how awesome I was doing. I suggest this idea to anyone who will listen. It's odd, but it works.
My day before surgery? Did I have one? Lmao...I would not have changed a thing. I went and did some errands, laughed with Shirl , and other friends made sure all my legal stuff was taken care of and just enjoyed the day. Was not nervous, scared, or excited. Even went to bed early and fell right off to sleep. What I did that was probably different from others is this I wrote emails to family and friends just in case I didnt make it. Just to say I love you and I am happy with my decision....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
I worked the day before surgery, trying to get everything caught up. I spent a lot of time worrying which I wish I hadn't done, but I can't help myself---it's a personal problem. But surgery is scary every time you have to have it, no matter how many times you've had it before (3 for me). I wish they could have given me some gas to knock me out before I got my IV. I'm such a wimp! Good luck with your surgery!
