Wow!  How time flies.  I can't believe it has already been a week since my surgery.  As of yesterday the pain is all gone and I'm feeling great.  I'm now on the down hill slide of liquids and looking forward to mushies.  My energy level is back up and I'm feeling like cooking, cleaning, and doing hobbies.  I'm so glad that I had this surgery and look forward to seeing what can be accomplished by using this tool to help in my weight loss. I just wanted to check in and let you know that I am doing great.  Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Glad to hear you are feeling good.  That is a real encouragement for those of us who have not had the surgery yet.  Have a great day. Heather

wynotha: I am glad you are doing well!  Don't over do it or you'll set yourself back.  Take your time and rest as well so that you can hit the ground running full speed! I expect to see you at Support Group next week if you are doing well!!!  It is Thursday evening at 6pm.  Ask for me - I know I don't post a picture here, I haven't figured out how to resize and the picture I have on my page is over a year old and doesn't even look like me anymore!!  ha! I'm so proud of you!!! R

Today is my taking it easy day.  I just plan on piddling around today and  pick up here and there in the house and maybe sew a little bit.  I just finished making out my menus for the next two weeks when I start the soft food stage.  I will get eggs, ff refried beans and cheese for the first week of the two week stage and the second week I get to add in deli meats and baked fish and chicken.  I'm really excited to be heading back to "normal".  The two weeks of liquids have not been that hard since I like most of the protein drinks at Weight Wise. I have really worked hard since surgery to get in my walking, drinking, and resting.  I also do deep breathing exercises like they have you do in the hospital and cough hard when I don't need to and it does hurt, but is also helps with the soreness.  Pre-ops remember that when you have surgery, your best friend will be GAS X Strips. Ruth, I will try to make it next week to the RNY support group meeting.  I usually go to the lap band meeting, but missed it this month.

Glad to know you are doing good.  But I have to know, what the heck are Gas-X Strips?  Are they like the Listerine strips that dissolve on your tongue?

Yes they are just like that.  My DH purchased them at Walgreens here in OKC.  I'm sure you could get them at Wal-Mart also.  I have the cinnamon flavored ones and they are not bad.  I feel they are a necessity for all surgery patients.  The gas was most of my pain.  The incisions were sore, but not as much as the gas.

I had the sleeve the 18th of February.  After 2 weeks I went back to work without a problem.  I did sleep alot on the weekend, but I thought I was probably entitled.  I have past the soft food stage and can go to dark chicken and fish, but I'm pretty happy with the canned tuna, chicken and beans.  Feeling full still catches up to me quickly, so I think I'm going to stay here a few more days before I try real meat.  I wish you the best of luck.  Lyntoral

Thanks.  I figured thats what they were.  I told my mom and best friend that no one will want to visit me after surgery cause i will make the house like a gas chamber at Boot Camp.

gas x strips are life savers!  i am almost 2 years out and STILL carry them with me at all times!!  it's crazy some of the things that give us gas now!!  and quickly!!  it can be a little embarrassing!! haha..not! wynotha - even though it is the rny/sleeve meeting it is basically the same discussion.  we have so many people right at the same place you are that you should be able to get something out of it.  the presentation this month is from the dietitians as well, and it is pretty good.  especially at your stage.   i'm going to be going to both rny/sleeve meetings for a while so that there is at least a graduate at the 2nd one.  it is mostly newbies who have a LOT of questions.  the older patients are used to the original meeting date.  i don't mind 2 meetings - it keeps me accountable!  haha... sip sip sip and the time will fly!!  woohoo R
