Cross Post Protein Balls

I know some of you don't read the lap band forum and I wanted to share my experiement with my Okie neighbors.
I've always had a feeling that the yummy protein balls listed on here were not a benign snack, so today I concocted a single serve version. It consisted of 2 tbls of jif cruncy and 1 scoop of Spriutein chocolate peanut butter flavor. I melted the peanut butter and dropped in the scoop and stirred it up. An yes, it was roughly the size of a golf ball.

My conclusion: As suspected, the ball is not a good snack choice-too high in calories. But it would be a good choice for a meal if you were pressed for time and to me it tasted better than some of the prepackaged bars. I know from experience peanut butter stays with me for a long time. Pricewise, it's probably cheaper than a lot of the bars too, but of course not as cheap as a candy bar, and if you guys are struggling with those stupid reeses easter eggs, this might be a good substitute.

I think they ARE a better choice than candy-a few more calories, and a lot more protein. But, I've heard some people say they snack on them all the time-and that probably isn't a good idea unless they are taking the calories into account, particularly us bandsters. We don't malabsorb at all, and those things just slip right on through due to the peanut butter.
They did keep me really full though, I had mine for breakfast, gardened, rode my bike, etc. and didn't need to eat again for about 4 hours-so they do work like a meal.
