I am having the sleeve surgery as soon as March 17th 2008. I am excited and scared at the same time. I guess the idea of  surgery is the scarey part. The after is the exciting part. Very emotional. Will that get better as I go??? Any one have any suggestions???

Welcome to OH and your WLS journey. It is perfectly normal for you to feel these emotions at this time. Just concentrate on preparing yourself for your new life. Educate yourself all that you can on your surgery and most importantly your diet afterwards. The time will go fast. Come to the support group if you can Thursday night. Best of Luck and if I can help in any way please let me know. Rita

I agree with Rita. It's normal to feel like you are on an emotional roller coaster.  Also, lots of research will help those nerves.  I did most of my research on the web...most of it here.  The grads page showed me the importance of taking my vitamins. That may not be an issue with a sleeve patient.  I don't know.   Welcome and congrats on the big step into weight loss. You won't regret it! Best of luck!

Welcome to the boards.  I am having my surgery on the 27th and I too feel a little bit of nerves, I think its just human.  More so, I am feeling excited though in getting my life and weight back in order and really enjoying (as the Tim McGraw song goes) "My Next 30 Years".  I wish you the best of luck and please make yourself at home here.  There is a plethora of information at your fingertips here, the most valuable coming from your fellow posters.

Welcome to the Okie home here at OH. I'm pre-op, so I can't tell you how I would feel if my surgery was right around the corner like that, but I wanted to pop in and welcome you! Good luck! Dot

welcome and congratulations on your journey. The nerves and emotions are very normal. Gather as much information as you can. There is a lot of great support right here and a lot of ears to listen.

It's normal. One of my nurses in pre-op there had the gastric sleeve with Dr. B. like 8 days before my surgery and she was doing beautifully. She can answer a lot of questions that I can't since I was an RNY myself.
