I guess I'm finished... The insurance still say's that they approve but the problem is with the City where My husband works. They apparently have a clause in the policy that we never knew about, that says they will not pay for any weight loss surgery or anything related to it. My husband is taking off tomorrow and he is going to City hall and try to get some answers and then go higher up. I've had 2 Dr's say that I have to have this surgery or I'm not going to be around long.

I am so sorry you are having this big bump in the road. I don't understand companies not understanding how in the long run they will save a lot of money with your future healthcare.

That is just wrong on so many levels and makes me want to say words I can't  or I"d be busted for profanity. My insurance company said that they would pay. However, we found out that they quit paying in 1995..like I was ready for surgery 13 years ago! Sheesh. Anyway, husband called and asked why they quit paying. The answer was something like, "Oh, we've had too many problems with weight loss surgery people. They lose weight and gain it back and have to have surgery again." I was so mad I could spit nails. So, I got proactive and decided NOBODY and NOTHING was standing in my way and went private pay. It was worth it. I hope you can fight it, sweetie. Good luck.

I'VE ALREADY SENT A LETTER TO THE INSURANCE COMMISSION. AND VICKI R. HELPED ME WRITE A GREAT LETTER FOR THE APPEAL FOR THE CITY. I'M GOING TO GET MY PRIMARY DOCTOR TO WRITE ME A LETTER TOO. I'M NOT GOING TO GIVE UP. I'VE GOTTEN LOTS OF SUPPORT ON THIS AND I'M GOING TO FIGHT. WE TALKED TO PEOPLE ON THE UNION THAT IS ON THE INSURANCE BOARD AND THEY ARE GOING TO HELP TOO.

Awww hun, sounds awful. I am just starting this journey next Tues, but I can't imagine. Just keep calling them and fighting them on it. Fax their approval letters and maybe show the hospital a copy as well so they have a hard copy in front of them to discuss with the insurance people they talk to about your situation. I'll say a prayer for you. Hang in there.
