Approved BCBSIL 1.5 Days!
I have heard the horror stories of getting approved with BCBSIL. I crossed my fingers and held my breath. The staff at Dr. Gornichec's office faxed my information to BCBSIL Wednesday evening (2/27 after hours) and the approval came thru Friday (2/29). The staff he has over there totally rock and they are ON the ball. Lesa
Hey Dot, I don't know about your ins. company, but when I called BCBSIL they told me that they have 14 business days to review. On another call, the Rep told me that they like to process as much as they can prior to month end. After notification from surgeon's office that the packet was faxed, I was told to call to make sure BCBSIL received it. If it showed up in the system, then to inquire if it had been forwarded to medical review. My surgeon's staff is great though. They totally idiot proofed the information with a cover and index sheet, a total of 15 pages faxed. (Out of the 3 outstanding surgeons that I have considered, I felt more confident in this staff based on their experience and ability to deal with the insurance company. Not that the others are bad. I ran into turn-over and inexperience (i.e. the insurance coordinator was the receptionist a few months ago...) I am still numb from "The Call", as I am sure most are. But feel totally blessed that things are progressing as they are. My surgery date is set for 3/25/2008. Lesa
