Hello, everyone. I'm new to the forum, had RNY 2/4/08 and am doing incredibly well.  Down 26 pounds already. I need some direction, however.  I'm having one heck of a time getting my 3 protein supplements in every day.  Does anybody have suggestions.....other than "just do it or your hair will fall out".....:) Any input will be greatly appreciated.   I'm excited about my journey and look forward to finding friends here to help me along the way. Can't help with the protein as I haven't had surgery yet, but congrats on the weightloss!

Welcome!! Congratulations on the weight loss. I didn't have to drink 3 protein drinks a day after surgery. I added unflavored unjury protein powder to soups, broth, everything I could and it was pretty easy to get my protein in. Every surgeon has their own eating plan.  I would call out to those who have your same surgeon as they have walked the same road you are now traveling. Good Luck!!!!

Congrats on the weight loss.  Can not give any input because I have not had surgery yet.  Best of luck. Heather

Misty, I had my RNY on 2/25, also with Dr. Keith.  I suffer the same problem.  I am STRUGGLING with the 3.  I try to make up for it by also drinking the Wild Berry Passion drink that I purchased from the office.  That boosts the protein a little.  Did Dr. Keith say anything about your levels at your 2 week post op visit?  What all takes place at that appt?  Mine is next Tuesday.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement.  I'll take all I can get!   ShanDiggy, I'll have to try the Wild Berry Passion, every time I try to get new nectar flavors, they're out! :(  My 2 week appt was with Winter (love her!) and she asked if I was getting all my protein in, of course I'm not and I didn't lie...I knew they would be drawing my blood.  She checked out my incisions and then sent me for my lab.  They didn't call me to tell me it was horrible, so I guess I'm okay for now.  She did tell me to at least get in 2, I just feel like I can't cram it all in!!  Have you been going to the support groups at the Healthplex?  I'm going to try to go to at least one this month, maybe I'll see you there! Thanks guys!

Skyvanna, I didn't have to do the three protein drinks either. One thing that you can do is mix your protein powder with the crystal light. It's kinda like drinking the wild berry stuff, and it is something different. Sip, sip sip

Congrats on your weight loss so far!!  I'm pre-op, so I can't be of much help...  But, I've been thinking about what I'm going to have to do...  Especially if I'm out of town or something where mixing a shake isn't as easy... I'm going to California in August.  I HOPE I'm a post-op by then!!  lol  I think I'm going to buy some protein bullets.  I've tried them once...  Wasn't the best in the world...  But, I thought if I added it to the water I HAVE to drink anyway (either alone or with some Crystal Light) maybe that will help me??  And, they are small enough I can pack them in my baggage and take them with me so I don't have to find a place to buy them out there.  (we won't have a rental car). Hope you find something you can do! Dot

My other problem is that I mix up the protein packets that we had to purchase, and split it up...  I can barely get 3 of the little ones in, let alone 2 PACKETS!!  I am getting better though.  Good luck!  I haven't been to any of the support groups besides the one I was required to go to.  I'll have to look at my calendar and find out when the next one is.

Another question...  What did you survive on during the pureed stage?
