update on me......
Ok first let me tell you I LOVE Dr Han!!!!
He said my back was BAD but he didnt want to rush to the operating room especially since I just had major surgery. Sooo I am going to start going to Physical Therapy 3 times a week and i will see him again in May. The shots are useless but if I want to do them we can try again. Um thanks but no thanks. And he changed my pain meds since the one I am on gives me hives. I think I am the first RNY patient he has met. He was amazed at what I have lost so far. Soooo I have degenerative (sp?) bone disease. Whole lotta nothing I can do about it but wait it out. The foramen is bad but he said that what he would really like to see is me get close to my goal weight before we go to the operating room. I am to call him if I get anymore numbness in my legs and feet, if I start falling again like last time or if the pain gets so severe I cant handle it then we have no choice but to do it sooner. He said that a better healthier me has very small chance of breaking the hadware that will have to be put in the chance of a rip or tear is smaller with the weight off. So if my body allows me to wait that is what we are going to do.
He was very interested in ME as a patient and not a payment. It felt nice. The look on his face when he found out I lost 33 pounds in 3 weeks. He was amazed. He even wanted to see my incisions. He asked about the surgery and the hospital and how I felt about the experience and asked why the rny and not the band. He was so cool, informative and inquisitive. DH was totally amazed with him as well. He would ask my husband questions and asked him if he had any concerns and asked him to help keep an eye on me and if he seen alot of change then to bring it up and make sure i got back up there quickly.
I get to do the physical therapy here in mcalester and if I decide to do the shots I can get them here too. He said lower back doesnt generally do well with the shots like the upper back does. So I am not going to even waste my money on them.
Well i have rambled enough, I even stopped at bailey to get my work release. I am going back part time for the next 2 weeks and then back to full time the 17th.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I know that I cant get out of the surgery forever but I feel much better knowing I can do it when I feel better and am healthier.
Thanks so much for being my support system!!!!
I'm so happy for you that you have more time to lose weight before you have to face surgery. It will help. My DH is having some back problems on and off. I hope as he drops weight with his RNY that it will get better. He's out on the road all week driving so we both are excited to see how much he has lost when he gets home every week.
ONEDERLAND!!!! FINALLY!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
Sorry to hear your back is bad, but glad it can wait for now before having more surgery. You take care of yourself, I know you will be happy to get back to work. I know I was going stir crazy sitting at home doing a whole lot of nothing. Missed my coworkers too!
Take care and keep us posted.
