Well my one year mark was Sat 2-16 and last year I went home on 2-18, well this year I spent the day in the ER on 2-18, what are the chances?

I thought I was having a heart attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wrong, gallbladder!

I had posted a few weeks ago about having been having trouble with food and only doing liquids and now I know where all that and the morning sickness was coming from.

So I am having surgery on Thursday to remove my gallbladder, can you believe I made it one year and then it happened.

Anyone with gallbladder experience let me know how you did, I doing outpatient and then coming home, and back to work in Monday, is that reasonable?

Thanks
AmyBeth

Hi Amy     I got my gallbladder out last Thansgiving.  I also went to the ER and they scheduled an emergency surgery for the next day. Dr Kirk did it. The recovery was very easy, I was walking about two hours after the surgery, no complications. I was sore but it was not painful. I got a lot of gas on my shoulder from the surgery but it got better after two or three days     Now, I feel 200% better. Gallblader attacks are the worst pain ever.   I got two weeks off  but I have could got back to work the week after surgery if I want it   wishing  you a speedy recovery  Lis

AmyBeth-get that gallbladder fixed so you can come to our picnic!

I had mine out on Monday, home on Tuesday (surgery was lat in the day and I didn't wake up that easily so I just spent the night-at midnight I was awake and ready to go home)....so, home about 8 am on Tuesday as soon as I could get a ride.

Kicked it at home for the rest of the week and flew out of town the following Tuesday for business.  Couldn't deal with a heavy bag, was a little stiff, but fine.  I flew from Dallas to Albequerque (short flight) and then drove about an hour and a half north.

Now, by the end of the two day trip, I was really really tired, but still alive and kicking.  With any of the lap surgeries, I think you heal better and quicker if you move around a lot.  I think if I had gone back to work at the end of the week before I would have been even MORE fit for the trip the next week.

I had mine out in 2000.... I had a hard time but alot is because my gall bladder had made a nest up in my liver, and I had a c-section just 6 week before.  So my experience wont even be anything like yours.  You will be glad when its out though.  I will keep you in my prayers. Hugs

How weird is that??  With the dates!! I know what you're talking about though.  I've been having episodes with my gallbladder for about 6 months now.  The first time I thought I was having a heart attack too!  I didn't go to the ER though because it was in the middle of the night and I didn't want to bother hubby with it (duh!!  Glad it wasn't a heart attack!  lol) Anyway, I had surgery scheduled for August 20, 2007 but canceled it cause hubby was going out of town that week. Then, he ended up taking a different job and with the whole insurance thing changing I didn't reschedule it.  Then, with the new insurance, I realized WLS was covered, so I'm still putting it off in hopes that I can have the gallbladder and WLS at the same time! So...  I'm in pain after about 50% of my meals (depending on what I eat) Waiting PATIENTLY for ins. approval and a surgery date!!  (twiddling thumbs) Glad you DIDN'T have a heart attack and hope you feel MUCH better after you get that pesky gallbladder out!
