Newbie here!
This is my first post, I've been reading all of the message boards and finally decided to join! My name is Liz, live in Piedmont and I'm preparing for the gastric sleeve surgery. I'm currently going through all of the testing and trying to lose 37 lbs. before I can get the surgery. The nutrionist put me on a 1200 calorie a day diet, with two shakes, two protein bars and two meals and I'm starving! LOL I don't really care for sweets (lucky me) and it's really hard drinking these shakes. Just curious how long it took you to lose your 10% before surgery?
We have the same doctor! You'll love him. He did a great job on both myself and my husband! I had to lose 30 pounds. I still can't believe I did this... it took 3 months! We started the whole process by going to a seminar the end of August. I joined OH right away. I got the diet...sounds like the same one you are on. I walked 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. I never thought I would be able to do it. Ever!!! But I was SO determined. That's all it takes. Do what they say and it works. You'll be amazed at yourself in no time! Oh, and you will adjust to less calories. Don't cheat or you have to go through that feeling like you are starving period again. GOOD LUCK!!!

ONEDERLAND!!!! FINALLY!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
Liz, Welcome to the boards. I had six months to lose my 10% so I kinda just took my time. However it can be easily done in a short time. Just work with your nutritionists if you have any problems. They have more than one diet if that one doesn't work out for you. Welcome to Weight Wise also. You'll love our program and support. Best of Luck, Rita

This is my first post as well - and i am also preparing for a sleeve with Dr. Broussard. I have 12 lbs to lose and am just trying to lose it on my own with lots of protein and no sugar or carbs. I had my sleep study last week and I do indeed have sleep apnea, So I have an appointment with the Sleep Specialist the first week of March and my appointment with the psychologists and nutritionist this Thursday. I am hoping to have my surgery the last week of March or the forst week of April. I weigh 270 and my goal is 150. I am a 34 year old divorced single mom with a 10 year old and i Live in Shawnee, look forward to heating from you.

Hi Kristi,
Do you only have to lose 12 lbs or 12 more to go? I weigh 365 and was told to lose 37 lbs. I've lost 12 lbs in two weeks on the meal plan Chris the nutritionist put me on. Low cal, low fat, low carb, one meal a day and five supplements! UGH. They told me today that once I lose my 10%, that they will schedule the surgery within two weeks. I've met with Dr. Keller, the psychologist, Somer the exercise person and of course Chris the nutrionist. I'm having my metabolic testing tomorrow and seeing the cardiologist on Thurs. I still have to attend a support group. I also have sleep apnea. I had that testing done last May elsewhere, so I didn't have to repeat those tests. My insurance won't pay for this so I had to get a loan for it. I'm excited and nervous about the surgery and aftermath at the same time. Did Dr. Broussard tell you when you could expect to have your surgery?

Hey Liz - I am not sure when I am having surgery, I only had to lose a totalof 14 pounds. So I am hoping to get that off rather quickly and shoot for the first of April. My insurance also would not pay so I am paying for it out of my 401k.
