OTHER GP PATIENTS...HELP!!
Hi! I am six months out, gone from 278 to 160 now. Have a question for all you bariatric patients out there. Sounds weird, but here goes...does it look like you have a tummy by your belly and then your skin like hangs down underneath it? It sure is weird. Dr. Warnock at my last visit said it is my tummy pouching out, and it is normal. It looks like my stomach, then all the skin hangs down. My body is changing so fast it is hard to know what is going on. Another question...can someone write me and tell me what they eat on a regular day? How much is enough not too much? How many calories should we have. I know the protein and vitamins, but lots of people say I have lost too much too fast and not eating enough. I feel like I am eating constantly, little bits. HELP ME PLEASE. Any advise would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!
I am confused your blog says that you had gastric bypass, but your avatar says you have had the DS?? I am not as far out as you so I am not sure what calorie level you might need. I just wanted to let you know that I am here to listen and send my support, even though I cannot answer your questions now I maybe able to in the future. Good luck and I hope you find the answer that you are looking for.
HI! Oops...you are right...I clicked the wrong thing. I do not know how to fix it. Boy do I look like an idiot. LOL...do you know how to change it? Thanks so much for replying. When did you have your surgery? How are you feeling? I had the Gastric Bypass. I followed Dr. Warnocks directions faithfully. I think that is why I lost so much so fast. My last appointment he told me to eat more. HE told me I could eat Vienna Sausages and to eat an avacado a day. So I have been eating a little something every two hours. I am just frightened I will balloon up again. Please respond back and best of luck! GOD BLESS!!
I just had my surgery at the end of Nov. I am still trying to find the things that will work with my pouch and stay down. I have my next follow up in March. I am losing inches very fast and the scale is not moving to much. I know Dr W said not to weigh for the first year, but I jsut got to know where I am at. It sounds like he wants you to add fat since he said avacado and vienna sausages. I keep thinking I am losing so slow, but if I lose 30 lbs every three months that puts me at 120 for the year and I will hit goal. You are doing great, I think. I am not sure how to change the surgery type thing but I will try to find it again.
Wow, you've done great. I have to agree, that you do loose faster when your BMI is higher. At my last support meeting in January, a man who had surgery just 4 weeks earlier had dropped 50lbs! That was amazing to me, but then it was because he has more to loose. As long as you are following your drs orders, then it is all good.
I still try to get all proteing in and most days still have to drink at least one protein drink to make it.
Breakfast is usually either Fage yougurt or scambled egg and cheese.
Snack, string cheese or Turkey Jerky.
Lunch, 4 slices of ham and 4 slices of swiss cheese. I roll the each slice of ham around the cheese and dip it in some spicy mustard.
Dinner, some lean meat and veggie.
Evening snack: protein drink, if needed, or crunchy veggies (carrots, califlower or turnip)
If I've been good and got all my protein in, I will treat myself to a salad.
Hey, Phillis...
Where do you get your Fage yogurt and what do you mix with it?
I cannot find it here in B-ville, but Josh picked up some for me at Super Target in Tulsa... It is going to be a pain in the rear if he has to get it for me all the time!! I do really like it though (with peanut butter and splenda) and it is a good source of protein.
I think I'm going to ask Jude's Health store to carry it up here... Hopefully they will. Doesn't hurt to ask!
