Gastric Sleeve in OKC for under 10K??!!

Does anyone know anything about the gastric sleeve operations at the WeightWise hospital in Edmond?  They are advertising surgeries starting around $9K and I wanted to see if anyone knows if this is the real deal??  It seems a price that low can only be found in Mexico--I wouldn't be caught dead having a surgery in a Mexican hospital!!

Barbara, I am a RRT at Foundation Bariatric Hospital, and yes it is the real deal! We started doing the sleeve in October 2007. In fact it was the first sleeve done in Oklahoma. If you haven't been to our website www.weightwise.com check it out. I am 6 weeks post op RNY, but if you have any question don't hesitate to ask.

Does that include the hospital charges too?

I think because it says *starting at* it means that the $9995 is for lap band and it goes up from there.  So, RNY or sleeve would be more.  Sleeve would probably be cheaper than RNY since they don't mess with the intestines. I would certainly look into it.  I think both Dr. W & Dr. B are very competent doctors.  They have some youtube videos you can watch too.

I called Weightwise and sure enough, you can get a gastric sleeve operation for $9995.  She said it included all of the surgery fees. There would be an additional expense involved.  Still, it seems like the gastric sleeve is one of the best options to have ever come out--and for a lot less than everywhere else--Hooray!!

so what do you think the "additional expenses"  are?  How long of stay in the hospital? W

Wendus, I forgot to tell you that the stay for a gastric sleeve is one night. I also spoke to Dr. Walton and he told me the additional charges are for a complicated stay. In other words if you had to stay longer than the one night due to complications it would cost more. Hope this helps.
