I'm about halfway there now (weight loss wise) and I've dealt with things as they come up, or as near to that time as possible. But the whole body image thing, people reacting differently to me (gasp MEN) thing is just freaking me out-so I am going to get myself to a good counselor and work through this.
Does anyone have any reccomendations?
Hoodoo - I don't know the semantics of it, but Dr. Jim Keller at Weightwise is very familiar with both sides of weight loss. I know there is a way to see him even though you are not associated with the program. Their number is 359-2473. The receptionist should be able to help you with the semantics side of things.
Dr. Keller is a great support system and has really helped me out as well. I see him at support group once a month and I always know if I need something else he is there waiting to help. He has been involved in Bariatrics for many years and what you are going through is not uncommon ground for him.
Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions or if they cannot help you.

i cant really offer any help , as far as names, i do go to counseling but it is for integris employees , but she has been with me through the whole process , and i understand how you feel , i am not nearly as far along as you , i havw lost about 35 lbs though and i do notice people reacting differently . I also feel more comfortable shopping in Lane Bryant , even though i really dont fit in their clothes anymore but it is my safety net . Isnt it strange how things affect us !!! It is good to know you need some help and to ask for it !!!

If you're in Edmond, I have a recommendation for a fantastic counselor. Dr. Michael Potts. I've seen him for about 6 years now and love him. My issue wasn't weight. Otherwise, you'd think......6 years to improve your self esteem from weight loss.....he must not be very good.
Well, he was good and I was coming back from much more serious stuff. I'm well now!!
Good Luck with whomever you choose.
