Got the CPAP

Well, I got the CPAP this morning.  I haven't had a chance to take it out of the bag yet...  I need to go to the store and buy some distilled water before I go to bed tonight. I really hope this helps me with my tiredness.  In my sleep study, it said that I had obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea and that my oxygen levels dropped to 71%.  So, this nurse is going to let me get used to the machine and then send me home with an O2 monitor so she can monitor my oxygen saturation.  I just hope that the cpap helps me breathe well enough that I don't end up on oxygen at night!  That would suck! I'll let you all know tomorrow how my sleep is with the machine

I didn't have to get the sleep study, seems alittle interesting.  Let me know how it works!

Well, one night down...  I woke up a lot during the night.  I also would hear it leaking when I would lay certain ways.  I think I tightened the straps a couple of times too. I'm going to honestly give it a try.  I don't think I can do the nose pillows because my nose stops up during the night and I end up breathing through my mouth.  I have polyps in my nose that I need to get taken out, but I hear that surgery is a nightmare, so I'm putting it off!

GOOD LUCK!! I've had mine for over a month and I'm just now getting to sleep for the whole night. I always use to sleep with my mouth open but I learned real quick to keep it shut. It does clean out your sinus. My husband calls me Darth Vader.

I used mine for 9 months before surgery and afterwards I quit using it.  I sleep so good now.  I'm sure I need another sleep study to make sure I don't need it anymore.....  I will be 6 months out on Jan. 25th.

OK>..  So, I wore the cpap mask the first night I got it (Friday night)...  Went out of town Saturday, took it with me and used it Saturday night. Saturday night, it seemed to be hurting my nose.  I thought I had it too tight or something...  I adjusted it and it would leak...  So, I just dealt with the slight pain and slept with it, kept fiddling with it all night long. Sunday morning, I wake up and have a HUGE zit on the right side of my nose and a smaller one on the left side!  What's up with that?  Did that mask give me zits?!!!  lol Not a good start with the cpap! I have used it every night since I got it and I think last night was the best sleep so far.  But, I didn't go to bed until late. Josh calls me DORTH Vader!  (my given name is Dorothy)lol I don't think I've been as tired since I've been using it, but I haven't exactly been on a regular schedule since I was out of town, have had doctors appts, 3 day weekend for the kids, etc... I also haven't been waking up with headaches.  (Just zit aches!)

i was required to use the C-PAP machine before surgery even though my case was very mild.  They gave me the standard face mask which is very uncomfortable and left marks on my face.  I had a very hard time with it but kept it up until my surgery which was Feb. 25, 2008.  I only used it once after I came home from the hospital.  So today I went to turn my machine back in against their medical advice of course and he gave me a different mask that looks like it will be much better.  We will see tonight.  So you might go back to your doctor and see if they have different choices for you to pick from.
