My Christmas Toy

I finally got to play with my Christmas toy but it is COLD out!!  I got a GPS unit for Christmas so I can go geocaching!!!!! We found our first one in Coffeyville, KS when we were heading up to my sisters who lives in the Kansas City area.  Found the second one while up there near her house.  Found the third on our way home and our fourth one today! It is so much fun, I just wi**** wasn't so cold out!  The one in Missouri, we had to dig in the snow to find it!  The one in Coffeyville was on a tall cliff, the one in Mound Valley, Kansas was near a muddy baseball field, and the one today was in a nice wooded area here in B'ville.  It was plenty cold though, but at least the trees kept the wind out! Just wanted to share my adventures with my new toy with you all.  I plan to find my next cache on Saturday!  Can't wait until it is nicer weather and the days are longer Dot*

I have to say you are a 100% true geocacher to get  out in this weather. Tonja

You mean people actually hide stuff and you have to find it or what?  I have heard of geocacheing but I dont fully understand it.  It does sound like a lot of fun though.

Yes, you go to www.geocaching.com and find the cache you want to find and download the coordinates to your GPS and then you go out and find it!  Take something with you to trade in the cache or just sign the log book.  Then, you can log it online that you were there too. There are also trackable items with unique numbers that you can buy to put in to see where and how far they go.  We picked up a "travel bug" in Mound Valley, KS and dropped it off here in B'ville.  So, it has been from georgia to several states and this is the first time it has been to Oklahoma. Call me a geek...  I think it is fun and we get good exercise too! and Tonja...  lol  I've been wanting to do this for so long and even though we've had the GPS for awhile now, hubby didn't actually give it to me until Christmas!  I just had to play with my toy even though it was horribly cold out!  lol  I would have liked to make a day of it today, but because of the temp out we only did one!
