My sickness... (Tonja)

Tonja, My doc didn't even do a strep test on me.  She just looked at my throat and said it looked horrible and that there was no point in doing a strep test (whatever that means)  But, she did start me on 1000 mg of amoxacillin twice a day for 10 days (which seems like twice the dose I'm usually on).  I think she considered a sulfa antibioti****il she noticed I was allergic. Now I have a question...  Did you get your stiff neck after the sore throat?  I feel like I have a stiff neck coming on now So, as if a sore throat, phlegm, cough, headache, and TWO fever blisters aren't enough, I have to have a stiff neck on top of it??!!! I feel like I'm falling apart!

Stiff neck is often a sign of menengitis.  (sp?)

I was diagnosed with pneumonia in the ER on saturday...they did a chest xray after I complained about a stiff neck.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery.  It is terrible to be sick around the holidays, try to stay hydrated and warm.

Dot, More than likely the stiff neck is caused by the lymph nodes in your neck being swollen.  This is caused by the infection.  I have had them swollen before and it does make your neck stiff.  Feel down the sides of your neck.  You may feel like there is a string of beads going down both sides of your neck to your shoulders.  I hope yor are feeling better soon.  Let me know how things are going! Dot... The stiff neck started well before the throat...but, I was talking to Hoodoo today at lunch and we were discussing the lymph nodes and such and I think my stiff neck might be from gunk in my nodes.  I would love to figure out a way to relieve the crud. I sure hope you feel better soon...especially before Christmas gets here! Tonja P.S.  I'm allergic to sulfa drugs too!  We're twinzies!
