tis wonderful if you had electricity to watch the snow falling gently to the ground. But for me the joy of this first snow is not great...Knowing there are so many families out there without electricty and no heat. It brings to heart and mind just how much we do depend on the modern convieneces of life.

You best believe this kid is getting herself a new ventless, non electric gas heater/stove for Christmas this year.

But, let's not forget to enjoy the beauty of it all, even the ice, pulling down the trees, was truly beautiful.  Even the powerlines going off in sparks, really was, visually speaking, breathtaking.

You are so right! I love the beauty but feel bad for thos that have lost power. I have been so fortunate I didnt lose it during the storm. I was outside when the snow was falling it took me back to when I was a child and how it was so awesome to see the flakes falling. I love winter! Tis the only time of the year for me that is when I can truly reminicse about the past. Mom making candy and my Dad being the awww hum bug type right up till CHristmas morning when he would wake us up asking why we were not already awake...laughing the whole time. Time will never take away those memories just hope that I have more to add to them.

Yes, the winter is a good time to reflect upon the past.  One Christmas day my pipes froze and burst and when I got home that night there was 3 feet of water in my apartment.  My chihuahua pup was floating in a basket on a boogie board (the maintenance people put her there to be safe).....ahhhh, those Okie winters gone bye!

But even those times had happy endings, and these will too.  I like the smell of fireplaces and the smell of fog.  I even like the sound of coyotes howling in the cold (although I do think it's prettier in the warm summer).

I hated the snow. I think its because I am from Utah and its just a disappointment when oklahoma tries to snow as it is so short lived. It's irritating knowing im here and not playing in the 1.5 feet of  snow in salt lake city. grrrrr
