Will it Snow? Will it ICE?

This is possibly my biggest dread for moving back to Oklahoma.  In Dallas ice or snow rarely lasted more than a day.  Oh horrors!  O chillS!

I'm going out today for a bit this afternoon to see my Uncle and take care of a few things, but it's amazing how tense I am thinking about the weather.  Why is that?  I have heat and food and no where in particular I have to be.  But it's the IDEA of being "trapped" and I really do hate walking on the ice, or rather falling.

Being overweight was a lot like that-imprisoned in my own body, afraid to move.

I'm going to put on a pot of vegetable stew this evening and indulge in some healthy comfort food tomorrow.  I have carrots and turnips and parsnips to go into it.  The nice thing about a veggie stew is you can always add a little leftover chicken or whatever during the reheat, AND I am very comforted by the idea that I can eat as much as I want of it.

With the band I csn pretty much eat as much as I want of anything-which is fabulous, but I still keep one eye open on the high cal things.  Now that I am weighining weekly for the valentine's challenge, I might experiment with letting up on that and letting the scale tell me what I need to know.   Nah, I will always keep one eye open.  But the true miracle of the band is that I can taste and try things I didn't dare start before-because now I CAN stop, and usually do long before I reach any self imposed limit.

I've lived in Tulsa for 30 years now and we usually get snow and the ice usually hits the Dallas area.  But with the global warming, maybe the ice has moved north to our area.  I hope that's not the case!  I love hibernating when we have bad weather.  We live on an acre and have huge evergreen trees along the road.  Everything looks so pretty when it snows!

I'll probably make a big pot of chili tomorrow.  I keep thinking about trying to make white chili with chicken but DH would probably prefer the regular chili with ground beef.  But I may get adventurous and try the white chili. What's the Valentine's challenge?  Guess I missed that.

I sure hope we don't get ice.  I'm also very afraid of falling and I can't get up if I do.  My DH always clears off a pathway to my car, but the parking lot at work may be treacherous.  It was last year.

I remember...  I was going to comment last night on the white chili and forgot! I have a friend who makes white chili and her and her family LOVES it!  I've never made it, but I have recipes for it...  I might try it too.   Let me know if you try it and if you like it!

Well, this is Oklahoma - I say expect the unexpected! I bet we'll get ice - but I'm not sure about the snow. T

hummm...  our fridge is empty!!  I cleaned it out before Thanksgiving, and I haven't done much grocery shopping lately.  I've just been going in and getting what we need now and leaving the rest there.  Maybe I should have went shopping today instead of watching my CSI marathon off of my DVR... Another thing you mention...  heat...  Our thermostat has been acting up.  It has messed up 2 or 3 times now since Thanksgiving.  I can't figure it out.  All I know is that it will get cold in here and we can crank up the thermostat to 80 and it won't even kick on....  then, just as mysteriously as it quit it will kick back on.  Weird.... We have electric heaters in the ceilings of both bathrooms, our oven is electric (so that could be a safe form of heat if need be) and we have a gas log fireplace...  But, it just isn't the same.

I need to get off my duff and buy at least a back up generator.  My snakey babies would not like it if we lost power.  I have gas heat but apparently the thing that makes it work is electric, so if you lose electriity you lose heat.

The valentine's challenge is over on the main lap band board-just a Thursday check in to see how much weight we can lose between last Thursday and Valentine's day.

DUH!!!  Our heat is gas also, but electric ignition...  So, I guess we're without heat if we have no electricity too!  lol  At least we have the gas log fireplace though.  It has electric start too, but we could light it with a lighter if we had to!

My father explained the whole electric ignition thing to me.  I do have to come up with a powerfailure plan for the snakes though.  Today's plan would be just to load them up in bags and go to a motel and let people wonder why I was moving in the hotel with a load of dirty laundry....and five dogs....and a cat.

Maybe I really should think about a back up generator.

How many snakes do you have and how big are they?  My daughter's "boyfriend" has an iguana that is 5 feet!!!  I haven't seen it, but they made a cage under his bed, so I'm told... BTW, as per the subject of this thread...  I'm NOT Liking this ICE!!!!!
