So i get to my appointment for my nutrition class and i got a call from a nurse right as i walked in the door. So i just talked to her there.  She told me and something in my Pulmonary test came back abnormal. She said i have i ever smoked (which i havent) or if i have ever had bronchitis it would show. Well i have had bronchitis. So that sucks, i have to find another pulmonary specialist to do another test through and that could take weeks! I have to quit getting excited, everytime i do i get held back! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just don't freak out!  These things come about for a reason.  One thing I can say about Dr. Gornichec and his testing is that he is so thorough he is with the testing.  So, just know that it's great that they want to do a little more testing - hate the part of it drawing things out some - but it's great that this was caught. Hang in there! Tonja

Don't get freaked out!   It is better that they know now so they can take precautions rather than after you are under anesthesia and (God forbid) something horrible happens or you come out of anesthesia OK but then develop an infection of some sort... They do these tests for a reason and it is so they don't go blindly into unchartered waters.  Are you sure you have to have another doc evaluate?  Maybe there are some precautions they can take with their new-found knowledge?  Maybe there is a treatment they can give you now that they know this to help you with your recovery... I haven't had my pulmo visit yet and I've had bronchitis too.  Lots of people have...  Just be glad they know what they know NOW and not when it is too late. Good luck!  Things will work out, sweetie :o)  Dot

I did a kinda of PFT at the surgeon's office.  It is best to know before and take precautions if any are needed than to find out during or after surgery.  My surgeon is very strict with their pre-op testing and I am glad.  That way they know if there may be complications and are ready for them.  It will happen for you.  I know it can be very frustrating right now.  Keep your chin up. Okay is there something I could learn from this cause I am a former part time smoker.  Basically I smoked at the bars when I went out.  This February will be one year since I have smoked (or gone to bars like I used to for that matter).  I was just asking so I know ahead of time.  Thanks.

It may or may not. I have asthma too which did not help at all. She said the next appointment would be making sure that my steroids are working properly. What sucks is that I was not taking my steroids like i was supposed to about the time that i did my PFT. So next time if there is one, i will do better. Im hoping another pulmonologist just looks at the results and clears me for surgery. That way i dont have to go back for another appointment.
