New Guy Here
Hi, Justed wanted to let you know that I had my RNY with Dr. Gorospe on 11/14/06. I've lost 156 lbs and have never felt better. I feel like Dr. Goropse gave me my life back. I no longer suffer from high blood pressure or sleep apnea. I'm just a little over 1 year out. I've had a fairly easy ride with really the only complication being low iron---which I'm working on. Any questions, feel free to ask. Loretta
Hi,
I'm a lap band patient but Dr Gorospe did my surgery. He and Dr Kirk are the BEST! I had lost 80 pounds since January 10, 2007. I'm so happy ;-)
Our support meeting is next Monday at Bailey's Medical center at 6:30 p.m. Please, join us. It is really helpful to see other patients and listen their success stories.
See you
Lis

Yea! Another Tulsan! I had my surgery almost 6 weeks ago the Dr. Katsis at Surgical Associates. They practice out of St. Francis. I am very pleased with the docs and staff. Not to knock Dr. Gorospe's staff, but I have heard some not to nice things about them. Judge for yourself. I also went to the Educational meeting last night for Surg. Assoc. and Dr. Fisher suggested for people to check out Dr. G also and see what program they like better. Maybe you should do the same. I knew someone who had Dr. Katsis as a surgeon a while back and she didn't even look like she had surgery. I knew then that he was going to be my doc. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me. I am also thinking about maybe trying to get together a Tulsa support group for both surgical groups. I would like to have another support group other than the one my docs have. Good luck on your journey!
Happy Holidays,
Michelle
I'd just like to say that so far I have had absolutly no issues with the staff at Dr Gorospe's. Everyone I have spoken with has been most helpful and courteous. I ended up waiting extra week to get my surgery date and appts setup, but they were in transition from S Tulsa to Owasso when that happened. I was anxious, but understanding.
The only trouble I have had with them per se is when I walked in and asked them if they knew of any programs to help me pay for the surgery or if Dr Gorospe did anything pro bono. This was back when they were at SouthCrest. The lady at the desk seemd like she didnt want to even talk to me about it and I left their office kind of upset. I later understood though that hey this is a major change in your life if you arent prepared 100% for EVERYTHING pre-surgery requires you havent done your homework. I will know hopefully in the next 48 hours if my dad is going to help me cover the costs since I dont have insurance currently. If he gives the thumbs up its literally going to be the best X-Mas present ever.
I know someone here in B-ville who used Dr. Gorospe and he nor Dr. Kirk gave her any discounts, but because she was cash pay and paid up front Bailey did and the Anesthesiologist did also. I think for cash pay it cost her $24,000 for everything. If I remember right, that was blood work and everything. I have it wrote down out in my car and I can look it up exactly what she wrote down tomorrow if you want me to.
