gaining
Well, it's official. I weigh more now than I did the day of surgery.
I still feel no restriction or satiety when I eat. None.
I called Dr. G to try to get in earlier (before Thanksgiving), but was told all of his appointments were full and I'd have to wait until Nov. 26 (my scheduled appt.) to get another adjustment.
Good grief.

Sucks don't it and I can't imagine bandster Hell (no restriction) PLUS prednisone. Talk about a double whammy of suck a licious ness.
There are a couple of things you can do-one, just do nothing till the 26th and worry about it then. Or, chew the heck out of carrots/celery sticks and try to minimize the damage. Oh wait, Crohns. Crud.
I'm sure you know this, but steriods make you retain water and bloat up pretty bad, as well as increase your appetite. I really think you should get off the scale until the 26th, do your honest best until then, and let the results be whatever they are. I just don't think it's realistic to expect your body to lose weight with all it has going on.
Now, I know that's not what you want to hear, with the Rose Parade coming up, but beating yourself up over a game that's stacked against you is not productive either. Notice I didn't say give up, I just said stay off the scale. Effort you put in now will show up on the scale later, when the 'roids are gone.
Yes, it's awful...but...it's the way life is at this time. You are almost off the Prednisone (sp?) and then things will be different.
You need to get to your happy place and start your countdown to freedom from steroids. You will see an amazing change - I promise!!!

Okay - now I am going to post as your support group leader... AAAHHHH!!!
Weight loss surgery is not fool proof. You can eat around any surgery.
At this point in time - YOU need to make yourself slow down on the eating and what you are eating and change the way your brain is thinking. That is what the whole process boils down to anyway. The band is a tool - you do the rest.
You are going to have to measure your food. You are going to have to journal everything you put in your mouth. I'm usually not a major rules girl - but in order to get through this, you are going to have to do this. I'm not talking about getting on 'fit day' either - I'm talking about pen and paper and actually writing it down. There is something that makes you more accountable when you have to put it to paper yourself - not by typing.
If you want, send me a list of things you are eating and I'll tell you if you should keep on with those types of food at this time or give them up.
I know it's even more difficult going through this with doing the steroids - but - you can do this and I will see you through it. I'm officially declaring myself your 'weight loss support person' and I'm going to get you through this. (Plus a lot of prayers in there too)
So, please don't take it as me being harsh - take it as me caring and loving enough to help you.

It's the stinking anesthesia. Any time I'm put under, for any amount of time, I can pretty much guarantee a week or two of blah,,,,,no appetite.....It's very tempting to not eat, because no appetite is what we secretly long for, but right now it's important to give your body nutrients on a regular basis and it will help start your metabolism off in a healthy manner.
I hate steroids. Prednisone damaged my husband's hip joints, caused a hole in his ear drum, and gave him a round face and acne (just while he was taking it). The blood supply to his hip joints was cut off and he'll need hip replacement soon. He probably should have already had it but he won't go back to the orthopedic doctor---he wants to delay the surgery as long as possible. After everything he went thru (surgery) with ulcerative colitis, I don't blame him.
I need a steroid shot in my heel but I'm going to live with the pain because I sure don't need my appetite increased. And I always have horrible nightmares whenever I get a steroid injection!!!
