Worried
Well a lot has been going on since I last able to sit down and post. After I was in the hospital overnight 10/15 with chest pains I was scheduled for a stress test. As I was walking on the treadmill they said I was doing great and only had 15 sec left and I passed out. The results of the stress test came out fine thank God but I was having frequent dizzy spells.
Then last week I was at work (I am a OB nurse) and I was working with my patient as she was pushing. I had one leg holding it up and was counting for her. I all the sudden break out in a sweat and I cannot catch my breath. I turned to the Dr who was in the middle of a vaginal exam on the pt and I grabed for his shirt as I hit the floor.
Tonight is my first night back to work since and I am scared to death. I went to my primary 11/9 and was taken off one blood pressure medication then went to Dr Gornechec that afternoon and he wants me of the other blood pressure medication (both is fine with me I am tired of taking pills) My blood pressure at his office was 94/56 and my pulse was 60. No wonder I cannot stand up. I almost did not come back to work but I have bills to pay.
Everyone was very worried but we cannot stop laughing at it. One of the nurses came running when the Dr started screaming and she puts a "plastic bag" on my head I really think she just panicked. Finally she got the O2 mask off the wall and put it on my face much better.
Like I said we are all having such a good time laughing about it but inside I am freaking out I am very worried. I need to be out doing my walking but when I try everything starts spinning. I am soooo glad that I had the surgery I know I could not be where I am right now without it and I know this is a little bump in the road. Dr Gornechec said I am right on track on the weight loss. This makes me happy. I guess I just need some love and support right now because this is soooo wearing on my nerves.

Hi Tressa,
I bet it was the blood pressure meds which caused you to pass out. My surgeon took me off my BP meds when I left the hospital following my WLS. Even now, when I have my blood pressure checked, it's on the low side. Which totally amazes me, since before WLS,,,even with meds, my BP would get really high.
Have they also checked your blood sugar, could it be running too low ?
Sending you support and hugs.

Are you getting in all your protien? That is pretty crucial for a VLC diet (very low calorie). Also, staying hydrated is more important the fewer calories you consume. Your stats are awesome and it may take your body a little time to adjust to the big changes it's had. Good luck and check with us often, we care.
How scary! lol sorry, can't help but laugh a little when I think of that mother that was pushing!!
As if you'd never helped a woman push before, or saw blood, or whatever! lol And the doctor screaming because his nurse is out cold on the floor!!
I do sincerely hope you get it all figured out and that your dizzy spells and passing out episodes stop!

That's so scary! It makes me wonder if my BP is going to dip lower after I lose weight, too. It's normal now, but has a tendency to run a bit low.
I feel for you. I hope you're better now that you're off the BP meds. *HUGS*

Hope you get your health issues taken care of and don't faint any more. I hope you didn't hurt yourself when you fell. I have almost passed out several times since my surgery, usually when I've stood up too quickly. My blood pressure is low and I probably need my medication changed or discontinued. I'm seeing my PCP in two weeks.
Take care of yourself!
