I am so fusterated with the lady at my pcp office. I understand she is busy but..... I have asked for over a month now for them to fax a support letter to the surgeon. 3 times she has told me she did it. then last week I find out the surgeon hasnt gotten it yet. I call again, and she is out of the office, so after my daughter sees the doctor on friday I catch the lady in the office so I ask her about it. she tells me " see my desk over there? its stacked high and I have not been about to get to it so you will have to just wait! and quit bugging me about it." so I asked do you have any idea when it will be done?.. she says "no I dont and I dont see it getting done anytime soon" she went on to say that they were understaffed, ect. Ok, I know they are short handed.. but come on a MONTH! and there was no need to be rude! should I say something to the Doctor? I am going to continue to call every few days... I want to make sure its on her mind.. maybe she will do it to shut me up! am I over reacting? oh.. what doe OT mean in the subject line?

I am sorry you are going through this. If it was me I would talk to the DR. But that is how I am . My thing is I am paying for a service and it needs to be provided in a timely fashion. I have used that line many times. I had an office manager say "well actually your insurance pays for your visits"...UMMMM who pays the insurance comapny? ME...Either way they are being paid to provide services for you. You have every right to demand those services in a timely (and without rudeness)manner.  My PCP has a history of being against WLS. So when I met with her (I booked an office consultation) I laid out my reasons and asked for her support. I told her I would appreciate her being forthcoming with any reservations so I could choose a DR who would better suit MY PLAN for my health. Before I left her office I had my referral and support letter in hand. I still have to do 6 mos of observation with her before my insurance will consider my application. But I feel positive about it now. I know she and I are on the same page about my goals.  Best of luck to you and please stand strong for yourself. The office is not the one living with the issues you face everyday. Don't let them control your timeline or plan by disregarding your needs (while being rude to boot).

OT means Off Topic. Sherrie-life puts us i certain situations so that we can learn.  What is it you need to learn?  (I don't know, I'm asking). I would definitely speak to the doctor and explain to him that if you don't get the support you need from his office, you will go elsewhere. Anytime a front office person is rude, the people in charge need to be made aware.  It reflects on everyone in the office.

I would say something to the doctor, the office administrator, and whoever her immediate supervisor is.  I don't think that her behavior toward you was appropriate.  I wouldn't let it go.  Four weeks is MORE than enough time for them to get it out! Good luck!

I would go to the Dr and let him know or the office manager. I worked for Dr. offices for 8 years and that is not good for there business. If she can not handle the work load then the dr need to be aware and needs to hire more help or put some fire under her. Keep bugging her till she does it. Or maybe you  can write the letter and have the Dr. sign it. Debra

I can PM you a copy of the letter I gave my doc.  She read it and I think she's just going to retype it on letter head and fill in some of the blanks I left for her to fill in and send it on the way.  She seemed to appreciate me giving her the letter. PM me your email addy and I'll send it in a .doc file from MS Word....  or, I can copy and paste it into the email document.

I called the lady and told her I didnt appriciate how she acted toward me on Friday and if I had offended her in anyway I was sorry, and I understood she was busy but it was very important that the letter go out soon as it is the only thing I am lacking for my consult. She appologized and told me that she has been really stressed out because one of the girls in the office was out for surgery and she was having to handle both jobs. She also promised to try to work on it today and call me as soon as she faxed it.. I will wait a day or two and if its not done I will talk to the doc.

I am so glad you were assertive. Oftentimes, people who work closely with the public  forget that they are working for us, not the other way around.  When they do what they're supposed to be doing, they are not doing us some HUGE favor...they are doing their JOB. It sounds like you nicely reminded her of that. Good for you.

I think she needs to be reported to the office manager...if she is the office manager, I would go to the next person in charge.  Her response to you was extremely unprofessional.  A month is way too long to be waiting for this simple letter.  I would go there tomorrow if you can and tell them you are not leaving until you get the letter.  Shame on them for being like this to you.  Just remember, it's your body.  How would they feel if they were in your shoes?  Shame on them!!! I would love to start an advocate group to jump down these people's throats! Tonja

I hope she gets the letter done today. I decided that if she doesnt fax it today I will go straight to the doctor on monday. its a very small office, with only 3 or 4 people working in the office so I dont think they have an office manager, however she did appologize for being rude and promised to get to it asap. but I can not let it continue to be put on the back burner, I feel that she has had plenty of time to get it done.
