The long dreaded (by me) really cold air came through. I'm not a cold kinda gal. Prepare for some major wailin if/when it snows.
I've made the decision to only buy clothes in my current size-no speculation outfits, but in January, after the Christmas sales, I am going to buy one really awesome leather jacket for NEXT winter.
Do any of you have "goal clothes" and do you think it helps or hurts?
I got into trouble diets past by setting unrealistic goals, so I am being very cautious this time.

All the makeover shows has made the following fantasy in me: I get to goal and then I get $1000 to spend on clothes.
The reality of that is I could never just go in and buy clothes that weren't on sale, and I would probably not be able to spend 1,000 on clothes for me and me alone. I'm just not into them that much and I could dress a whole lot of kids or feed a whole lot of dogs for $1,000.
Sometimes I will take a catalogue and pick out what I'd buy if I were doing that-but I'd never actually DO it. Too practical. But I think I really could go buy one nice leather jacket (on sale of course).
I'm like Sherrie - I have a closet full of different sizes and up to get down to outfits. I am piling up my clothes that get to lose for me for either a garage sale or to donate to Goodwill or someone. So far i don't have to many yet.
Deb, I'm like you I don't know if I could spend $1000 on clothes at one time. My husband assures me that when I lose my weight he will spend a lot of money for new clothes and we are going to go to Alaska for a couple of weeks.

I adore thrift shops. So last year I went and bought several plastic tubs at Wal Mart. A color for each size. I began buying clothes at thrift stores and off clearance racks. I still haven't had surgery but have still been buying. I have clothes from size 22 to a size 6. I have 28 tubs of clothing, lol. The 22s are too large and the 20s are close. My 18s fit great. So the 22s are ready to be taken to a clothing exchange event. I still buy any clothes I like at thrift stores regardless of size. Once I reach my final goal I will be buying all new clothes but until then I will wear thrift store clothes. I refuse to reward myself with new clothes because I gained weight. Nor will I buy new clothes for losing that weight.
Plus I am just cheap, lol.
i loof forward to buying new clothes ,,,,,,i want to be realistic though , but i do fantasize about the perfect little black dress ,,,,,,,,,,hmmmmmmmm,,,,,,,,i am a clothesaholic but i have not bought anything new since i went on this journey , i plan to be at least somewhat smaller ,,,i am trying not to set goals specifically , just to follow dr. orders and take good care of myself.

Yes, I woke up this morning and thought I was back in Michigan. LOL bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr
OK, now here's my leather jacket story... I've always wanted one, never ever would I actually spend the money on one though. Well, as I was losing weight I did what most people do and bought very few clothes and those mostly from thrift stores. After I was at my sugeons goal, my husband bought me a bonified real life leather jacket!!!! I got it for Mother's Day. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! However, I lost more weight and even though my jacket is a small, it's too big now. I still wear it because I LOVE it!!!!!
So, when you go buy yours - buy it small enough so that it'll fit good come next fall/winter.
I had a "goal dress" too. I bought it a little while after surgery on clearance. It was a size 10. I hung it on the back of my bedroom door. I sooooo wanted to lose enough weight to wear that size 10 (but was also glad that it was cheap in case I didn't)..... I never got to wear the dress!! I went from a size 12 and the dress being too tight to wear in public - to being a size 8 and it falling off my shoulders. I ended up passing the dress on to another wls friend of mine!!
Now my only frustration ( you just know that is not a true statement, as we all have MANY frustrations...lol) is that I've been at a stable weight and size for well over a year now - are there new clothes in my closet???? Are there even any gently used clothes in my closet?????? NOPE, I haven't had the money. I wish more then anything that I would have set up a clothing fund right after surgery. If I would have put in a special account the money I would have spent on pop and candy alone over the past 2.5 years.... I could have some new clothes now!!!!
Instead - I keep rotating and mix and matching my few outfits that I do have and it gets me by for now.......... but ONE DAY, I will have a shopping trip and I will spend a LOT of money clothes for me, shoes for me, and matching jewelery for me!!!!!!
Wow, I yakked a lot in this post - sorry
I held on to my little clothes for a long time and finally gave them up. I decided that when I lose weight I'll want NEW clothes. Who wants to wear that old stuff?!!!
After surgery, I will do good will, second hand, thrift, and consignment shops until I get to goal and then I'll start buying my permanent wardrobe.
I do NOT like the cold weather and we NEED to finish cleaning out our garage so I can keep my car in there!! I do NOT want to clean windows at 6:30 in the mornings!!!!!
