Ok, I have 10 more days until surgery **eeekk!**  I am doing well on my high protein diet,  however, no caffiene has been yucky!  I can deal with no pop etc - its just these dang headaches and sleepyness has really got me down.  I thought I would be much farther on my pre-surgery chores around the house but I look around to what I want to do and I'm not!!  Ok, thats my vent....

I start my diet tomorrow , i have been trying to do a few things around here myself , but really i am saving the most of it for next weekend .  I am thankful that i dont really do caffiene, so thats one thing i dont have to battle ,,,the main thing for me is getting in the mind set of not eating every time i turn around and finding other things to occupy my mind ....we can do this!!!

I remember those headaches - you might look into MuscleMilk, I found it at GNC, they have several flavors, I bought Banana Cream, and added it to milk, has a lot of protein in it and filled me up, it got me over the bad hump, then I lived off cottage cheese and sf pudding.   Good luck with your journey - and guess what don't worry about chores, they will still be there when you get back from surgery, then someone else will do them, lol.  Just kidding.  Take care. I've had to cut way back on the caffiene since banding-but, the good news is it seems a little will do the job.   For any kind of detox thing, drinking lots of water will flush out the toxins much quicker.  And, keeping a belly full of water really does cut down on the hunger issue-no, it's not satisfying, but it does help. 10 days isn't that far away-and it will be here before you know it-cliche cliche cliche but true.  Hang in there kiddo, we are here for you.

Thanks everybody!  I know it will only last alittle while.  Last night I went to my neice's birthday party.  Not only one cake, but THREE different cakes!!!  It really wasn't that hard saying "No Thanks."  Not like I thought it would.  Just that darn headache got me down.  But I'm better this afternoon.  Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions!!

Sandy, How much caffeine are you used to getting?  Did you taper off or go cold turkey?

About a year ago, I worked at the post office and sucked on Pepsi all day long.  32 oz in morining and 32 oz in afternoon.  I'm embarassed to say that I consumed my regulary calorie alotment for the day all in pepsi, then overate on top of that.  About 7 months ago, I started on my pre-cert diet and stopped drinking regular pop and went to diet.  I would have 3 per day whi*****ludes having my glass refilled at lunch.  My pre-op diet is VERY different from most I read on the board when it comes to what I can eat.  But the drink "rules" are to have NO cafeine coffee/tea, only crystal light & water.  I can have 1/2 cup of skim milk each day.  I was an avid 2% milk drinker.  (I love milk) so, the thought of skim milk doesn't sound good at all.

Wow, from 3 per day to zero...  I can imagine you have a headache!! I stopped regular soda about 3 or 4 years ago and weaned down to only one diet soda per day probably a couple of years ago.  I'm not a big coffee drinker either. I remember trying to get off of soda cold turkey when I drank it (like you did) and I remember the headaches!  It was much easier when I tapered it down.  I don't know how you can do it.   Caffeine withdrawl headaches are horrible and pounding!  I feel for you. Now, about Crystal Light.  I never was a fan of it, but I think it is better now than it was when it first came out.  Or, maybe my tastes have changed.  Anyway, I started buying it since school started because my 9 year old can have a water bottle at school on her desk and the teacher only allows "healthy" snacks and sugar-free drink mixes in their water.   I bought (I think) all the varieties of Great Value (Wal-Mart) brand of crystal light and I LOVE the cherry limeade!  It is the best ever!! I mix it with vanilla protein powder and ice in my magic bullet and it is a yummy protein drink!
