Dr. Appt in a WEEK!!!!
OK I am headed to the doctor in a week and I really dont know how to bring up that I need a referral. I have tricare prime which I have found to approve pretty easily. But I have never seen this Dr. I made the appointment due to aching feet and back. I know that my weight has to deal with both of these. Whenever I have been sitting or lying down I get up to walk and it hurts so bad.
Any suggestions on how to bring this up to the doctor?

Say something to the affect...
"Clearly you can see that I'm overweight. I've been battling it for quite some time and I've despite my attempts to lose weight, I just can't seem to be able to keep it off. I've researched WLS and according to my insurance, I need the approval from a primary care physician before I'll qualify. Is this something you'd support me on, as I feel this surgery is my last option."
Good luck!
Cathy
I would clearly state -
"I'm going to have weight loss surgery and the surgeon requires this letter (give them a copy of letter)"
Don't beat around the bush with it! You are the one who is in charge of your body - and there are so many docs that try to talk you out of what you want. Take a stance for you and don't take no for an answer!

Just keep in mind that it is your choice not the doctors. If that one says he isnt comfortable with it say thank you and go to the next one. I was lucky when I had to switch doctors because of insurance, on my first appointment the dr asked me if I had ever thought about wls. I was so happy because a I had a doctor earlier that month tell me I just needed willpower! what a jerk
