I'm fairly new to all of this but I do have some questions on a few topics and would like advice on what you do. 1.  What things  did you do as exercise and diet plan you followed if you had to lose weight prior to surgery.  I have to lose 35 lbs. 2.  I need very detailed instructions on how to get the tickerfactory.com ticker on as my signature line. 3.  What is geocaching? Thank you for any help you could give me.

1)  I didn't have to lose weight prior to surgery, but going on the 10-day liquid pre-op caused me to lose 15 or so.  I think if you added exercise and really watched your fat/caloric intake, you could lose the required weight.  If you can afford a gym, I would encourage you to join one (YMCA, Pacer, Curves, etc) and start going routinely.  Starting now will also help you get into the habit of exercising for after surgery 2)  Create your ticker on tickerfactory.  Copy the actual image (not the HTML code).  When on the OH site, on the left, you'll find "User Settings".  Click there and paste the image into the signature area. 3)  Geocaching is a technological treasure hunt, if you will.  Thousands of people nationwide have created and hidden hundreds of thousands of "caches" all over the place.  They're hidden in creek beds, up in trees, under logs, in parking lots...you name it.  You use a handheld GPS and with the coordinates provided by the "hider", you find the cache.  A cache can be as large as an ammo container (large shoe box), or as small as a thimble.  Usually they contain odds & ends...trinkets...toys (never food or drugs), but ALL caches contain a log sheet.  This is a little piece of paper where you write down your name to prove you 'found' the cache.   Your GPS will get you within 5-10 feet of a cache.  Actually spotting the well-camo'd container is up to you.  It's a lot of fun, as you never really know where you'll end up.  There are places here in OKC that I never knew existed until my GPS led me to them. Will you be joining us on Sunday? Cathy

Thank you so much Cathy.  Is Murphy Park the one on the backside of Lake Hefner Dam? Do I need to bring anything more than water and walking shoes?

Murphy Park is north of the lake directly off of west Hefner Road (between Meridian & Macarthur).  You won't actually be up on the road that drives next to the lake...rather just get on W. Hefner.  You'll see wooden playground equipment.  The park is on the north side of the road. Bring comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, water (great idea...I forgot to add that in the first post), and maybe a light jacket (depending on your tolerance of the weather).    Does that mean you're going to come? I'm planning on it.  I will need to see if my husband has planned anything for Sunday afternoon.  How long does the geocaching last?

No more than 2 hours, I would say.  However, if you need to head back early, you'll only be half mile from your car and you can turn back at any time. Cathy

I did the pre op diet and lost 62 pounds from July 19 till about 2 weeeks agao and gained some back due to the h ployori infection and bloating urrgh.. I suggest this...limit your meals to like 3 t0 4 ounces of lean meat, no rice, potaotes, pasta, bread, sugars and no caffiene or sodas u  will lose weight and drink water and just walk.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

For my 6-month diet I saw my PCP monthly and did Weigh****chers.  Luckily, my office had an at work program.  The little booklet they write your weight in was proof that I was attending meetings every week.

Thanks everyone for the advice on weight loss prior to surgery.  A co-worker and I are going back to weigh****chers in the morning to have weekly accountability.  We have been off and on weigh****chers since last February.  My co-worker is also looking into having the lap band surgery at the same place I am.  I'm very excited about it and want to get the weight off asap.  I'm looking forward to the geocaching on Sunday and meeting all of you that are going to be there.  I have asked my friend to come with me but I don't know if she will due to possibly not having a babysitter.  On the tickerfactory.com site, I made my ticker and copied it and then when I got ready to paste it on my signature line on this site I kept getting a message that it wouldn't allow it.  So I guess I can't have one of those neat little things.  I can't even get my picture to go on either.  I do have my picture on my profile page.  It is when my husband I were in Missouri on vacation last summer.  I usually don't have my picture made. See you on Sunday if it is not raining.
