So how do I cook a horse?

I'm really focusing on how & what I eat, now that I've been banded and filled.  I've been drinking water throughout the day...not drinking while (or for 30 minutes after) I eat...and making sure that I eat my protein first.   I recognize that prednisone is really kicking my butt this week (I'll start tapering off next week), but the fact that I can eat a piece of toast in the morning and not feel full is a pretty big indicator that I just don't have enough restriction.  From what I've been told (by Dr. G & others), eating in the morning is the hardest because your stoma is somewhat dehydrated from not drinking all night. Today, I went to Jason's Deli for lunch.  I ordered a side salad (one trip through the salad bar).  Had cottage cheese & hummus for my protein and ate many leafy greens, onions, pickled okra, grated mozz cheese, with a balsalmic vineger dressing.  Oh, and two of those salad toast things.  I felt my choices were good (mostly low fat and low calorie), yet I was able to eat the entire salad.  Sure, I chewed well...but I didn't drink, either.  I can truly say that I know what "full" feels like, as after that salad, I was there, but it wasn't painful and I didn't feel stuck.   I was thirsty (and still am), but will wait another 30 minutes before I start drinking again. Anyway, I called Dr. Gornichec's office and he is allowing me to come in early for my fill.  So, hopefully I'll be satisfied without eating so much...and will finally be able to start losing some weight. Thanks for all the well-wishes and support.  You guys are wonderful. Cathy

I'm glad to hear he works with you.  So, when are you seeing him?  I'm sure you'll find your *sweet spot* soon!

October 29. Thank heavens, too.  It's nice to have a doc who wants me to suceed...rather than making me fit in the same routine as all other patients. Cathy
