I got the pics I took yesterday uploaded on my profile.  I'll work on changing my avatar later (I have to resize the pic first) and my sister and nephews are here, so it'll have to wait... Another thing, the seminar I went to yesterday was probably a waste of my time (other than what I may have learned) because Dr. Gorospe isn't on my list of physicians and neither is Bailey Medical Center, and Dr. Katsis is, so I will most likely go with him (I've been leaning toward him anyway)...  So, this is a sign to me... later Dot*

I think you will be happy with Katsis, I worked with him at St francis 4 years ago and I really liked him he took good care of his patients. Tressa

I also recommend Dr. Katsis.  He did my gall bladder surgery last year, and my RNY this year.  He's an excellent surgeon and a very nice person as well.

I'm using Dr. Gorospe. He is in network for me and my surgery has been scheduled. I also called Dr. Katsis because my insurance co. and Bailey were having some problems and I thought I might have to change. I think Dr. Katsis. does all of his pre op appt before sending to insurance, at the time I had not done any of mine. Dr Gorospe has been great, and I'm sure Dr. Katsis is too.  I would have been happy using either surgeon. Good luck to you.

I saw Dr. Gorospe yesterday and he seemed really nice (he actually had a sense of humor, which I've heard he didn't) and I don't think I would have a problem having surgery with him if he was in my network.  But, since he's not.....   I wonder if Katsis would take my gallbladder out at the same time as surgery?  Dr. Gorospe said he would rather two separate surgeries because of increased complications.  I don't know how much longer I can have this painful gallbladder in... Maybe it depends on if it is symptomatic or not if they take it or leave it?  Mine is CERTAINLY symptomatic!!!!

I think he will take out the gall bladder at the same time.  I believe he's done that for other patients.  Of course, every case is different.  My gall bladder surgery was very easy.  I had surgery at 7:30 and was on my way home by 11:00.  The pain was very minor compared to the pain after RNY surgery.

I just don't see a point in going through two different procedures when the incisions are about the same (Gorospe said he would have to make one additional incision that he doesn't normally make when he takes out the gallbladder)... going under anesthesia twice going through pain twice (even if gallbladder is fairly uneventful) paying my co-pay/out of pocket, or whatever twice... Of course, I know I'm not using Gorospe...  But, what's one more little incision??  Rather than a completely separate procedure?
